Tactical 930 SPX Build
Over the next few weeks I'll be building and testing a custom 930 SPX. The end result should be the perfect auto loader for serious Police/home defense use. I will include a parts list and prices for each, along with the time and difficultly of there installation, and range performance at each stage of the build
Here is the Mossberg that will be used, its a standard SPX I picked up a few months ago at gun store in Fl. for $700.

please fell free to comment and give advice on the entire build and lessons learned!!
Here is the first round of parts ordered so far.

This week i will be saying the weapon with Duracoat. i will document the process and post the pictures in a few days.

I'm also in the process of putting together a "serious" 930SPX, although M24shooter advised me to go with the 590A1.
I'm going to use:
1.) Magpul MOE rail bolted on to the handguard for attaching a surefire G2, although your Nordic Components clamp seems like a much more solid solution.
2.) Tac-Star 6-shell side saddle.
3.) Padded 10 shell sling and sling adapters.
The recent shipment of 930SPXs have enlarged bolt handles and a front sling stud.
I'll probably run it until I'm satisfied with its reliability and call it good. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Tempting, but I'll buy the 930 as a 'reward' for finding a job.

The 590A1 is a pretty nice weapon and has a lot of great quality's... with all that said i already own a 930 SPX.
I can personally devastate with the 930, and being well practiced and highly comfortable with a weapon is
invaluable in high stress situations, this is a FACT. Ive also selected a surefire M952XM07 as the light. Again because I already
have one. Next rounds of parts to come; charging nob, mag extension, high viz/low friction follower and a single point sling attachment
for the trusty blackhawk one point sling im highly comfortable with.

What are the advantages of a high viz/low friction follower? Does it bump up reliability and sort of act as an 'empty chamber [magazine] indicator?'
I'd love to see pics of your rig when you're done.

I just finished my 930 SPX build. I installed the following parts, most of which I found out about on M24Shooters thread.
Mesa 6 rd side saddle.
Choate charging handle. It is really more of a paddle. I had one on a Rem 11-87 and loved it. The Gen. 3 factory knob is good, Choate just a little better in my opinion.
Front and rear night sights from LPA. The rear is dimmer than the front and does not wash out the front.
S&J extended saftey and hi viz follower.
Nordic barrel clamp with 2 rails.
QD 45 deg. offset flashlight mount. Cheap no name but it seems well made and is solid.
Original 1996 model Surefire 6P. I am gonna upgrade to the LED but this works for now.
I am going to upgrade the mag extension to a more sturdy model but I am still researching that one.
I am thinking of the Aimpro forearm and the S&J bayonet kit (for the cool factor) but the weapon is already heavy loaded up.
I hope this gives you some ideas. Good luck with the build!Mossberg 930 SPX 12 gauge
Sig Sauer M400 5.56
Remington 700 AAC-SD .308

When it comes to barrels and chokes for tactical applications, I'm in the research stage. I have seen one example of a 930 SPX with a tactical choke and ports, and reportedly it's quite the advantage. Has anyone seen other examples worth noting ?

TRULOCK TACTICAL CHOKE
This is a must, its an excellent choke. Shoots slugs and buck and steel of all different types pretty will and bring down the flip, not to mention evening out the front of the weapon when you add a larger tube.

Just finished my build: I think I will need to find some sort of acceptable remote-switch solution for it.
930 SPX Gen 3
Streamlight Tactical 870 Mount (for the light)
VLTOR Light Mount
Surefire G2
BagMaster 10x Shotshell Sling
M16A2 Rear Sling Adapter
Tac-Star 6 shot saddle.
The Tac Star Mount causes the aluminum receiver to flex a bit, so you definitely have to use loc-tight and back out the screw a couple of turns. In addition, the screws pinch the receiver, making it harder to 'ghost-load' the 9th round. I think the pinched receiver causes the gun to feed a round earlier than the gun otherwise would (hence making it harder to ghost load).
The A2 stock sling adapter is necessary if you want to use the sling as a tactical sling. I have the 10 extra shotshells slung across my back when I have the weapon slung. It works pretty well.
I don't know why the Mesa Tactical shot-shell holder is so much more expensive, but the TacStar has worked well for me in the past.
The G2 doesn't work quite like it would on an AR15. When I turn the light on and shoot, my thumb flies off the push-cap during recoil, causing the light to blink.
As usual, Mossberg made the stock too long for the average shooter.
Fired 40 rounds of Slug through the gun the other day. No problems with function. No place here to shoot birdshot and buckshot.

Hey all! First post ...
I am nearing the end of my 1st gen SPX build, also. I put about 300 rounds through my stock SPX, from cheap Wal-Mart trap loads to heavy slugs. One malfunction during the last mag full, a failure to eject.
Parts list, from my first build piece to the latest:
Stainless steel follower, available at Brownells.
Choate bolt handle. A must, imho.
Aimpro Tri-rail. Solid piece.
Oversized safety. Aluminum, and easy to find.
Galco leather butt shell carrier. 5 round.
Magpul vertical grip. Non-storage variety.
Bushnell TRS25 red dot.
Weaver 1 oclock offset mount(waiting on its arrival)
Picatinny mountable forward sling swivel(waiting)
Uncle Mikes HD mil-spec sling swivel for butt stock mounting point(waiting)
M1 Garand style leather sling(waiting)
Side Armor shotgun shell carrier(waiting)
