    Surefire question

What's required to convert a G2 or a 6P to LED? Is it worth it or am I just better off buying a new light? I have both lights but they are just the basic versions. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

I believe you just need to switch out the lamp assemblies.
Get in touch with Kevin at www.brightflashlights.com or 352-732-2156 or brightflashlights@gmail.com and he will get you squared away.

Goto http://www.tnvc.com and buy the conversion kit for the G2/6P. Or you can goto http://opticshq.com where I think Victor from TNVC buys those kits from.. but I recommend buying from Victor since he supports what he sells.

Yes you just have to switch out the lamp assemblies. Since you have the non LED version.. it's perfect for this kit since the metal head helps reduce heat.

I owned a G2 for a few years before converting to LED with this http://www.surefire.com/P60L

I know its listed for 52 dollars but I'm almost positive I found it for about 30 when I got it. I had looked for LED conversions for a while before Surefire came out with this, but just didn't want to put off brand stuff in my name brand light.

The thing with the incandescent lights is the bulbs burn out eventually anyway. When that happens you'll end up spending about half what a LED conversion costs anyways so its worth it to switch in my opinion. On top of all that, the run time with the LED is MUCH longer so you spend less on expensive batteries.

On the other hand, if its gunna cost $50 for a bulb you may just want to buy a new $60 light and keep what you have as back up (one can never have too many flashlights right?)

Depends on how bright you want it. Upgrading using the conversion kit puts the light output to 200 lumens.. while the P60L only puts out 80 lumens.. If you want a "cheap" method of getting of getting a high output light, then conversion kit is very cool.
I've dealt with TNVC a few times and I'm pretty sure Victor would stand behind the conversion kit or your money back. He's always dealt fairly with me.. even generously (ie had a problem he paid shipping for return and got a new one with Surefire batteries). Since I have the kit I know it works very good. I haven't tested it for durability though since I don't put my rifle through the ringer. I may have dropped it one time though.. but it still works.

Oh I forgot to mention that if you get the tail cap, it puts out different brightness on a click of a button which the P60L doesn't do.
