    ID this handstop

Looks like an LWRC upper, or at least the front sight is LWRC.

There appears to be a hole machined in the face of the handstop, just wondering who makes this product and what the hole is for.

That's a Knight's Armament handstop. The hole is for a QD sling attachment.

    Thanks!

I thought that was a QD hole but it looked a little small.

    That's a nice looking part.

Why would the handstop have a hole for a QD sling attachment?

Why would one want to attach one's sling to it?

I was thinking that too, but after looking at the upper above it makes sense.

There's no place on the handguard to attach a sling without a rail-mounted adaptor, so integrating a QD hole with the hand stop is actually a pretty good idea.

Would also be viable as a side-mounted handstop, if you happen to use the sling as a way to index to your support hand spot. I don't personally consider that ideal, but for that application the KAC handstop might be worth the price.

IIRC that hand stop was originally designed to be used on a sniper weapon. That sling position is very useful for a true support sling as opposed to a "carbine Holster" sling. It was available , so people used it for several other purposes.
