2012 Noveske's New Rail
AAC is showing off a rifle featuring Noveske's new rail design. It's got a continuous top rail and will come with rail sections to attach wherever the user chooses. The key feature Mike Mers from AAC turned me on to was that each hole along the rail will accept a QD swivel, thereby getting the swivel closer to the weapon for a lower profile.
I've got very little detailed information on this rail, but I'm sure Stickman will be providing more details and better photos in the near future, so stay tuned. Consider this a "sneak peak"...

The lower profile QD holes are a great idea!

There was a lot of thought put into it as a system with accessories. We plan to make:
User installed heat shield
Panels that attach directly
Panel section with built in handstop
Rail sections that attach without fighting backing plates

I think the biggest thing for people to remember is that this is more than just a rail, its a complete rail system.

One thing I haven't been able to understand yet, does one need to remove the handguard in order to install the accessories?

The nut and screw stay in the accessory permanently. The nut fits through the larger opening and then slides forward where it can be tightened in place. No more fighting with the backing plates or removing the handguard to make it easier to install accessories.

Thank you.
That's exactly what I was looking for in a rail.

The barrel nut is similar to the one we currently use. It is over 2" long and gives much more support to the handguard than a short barrel nut does.
It will use a standard wrench, 1 1/16" I believe.
