Kitanica Product Line (Released at 2012 SHOT Show)

    Shot Show 2012: New Products

A company’s dedication to innovation can be easily quantified by the quantity and more importantly, the ingenuity and quality of it’s new designs. Kitanica comes to the 2012 Shot Show in Las Vegas armed to the teeth with a barrage of new
products and innovations that are a clear manifestation of Kitanica’s innovative firepower. Below is a list of the new or re-engineered products for 2012.

Padding System- This new system has been designed for integration with Kitanica’s Shirt 2.A, Gen.2 and MARK V jacket. Kitanica’s new Padding System utilizes patented XRD PoronTM foam, which absorbs energy at high strain rates and is articulated for optimal range of motion, comfort and performance.

PNT Gen.2- Re-engineered to accommodate the aforementioned padding system and further enhanced with a new waist cinching system, CorduraTM reinforced hip pocket corners, YKKTM zippered fly and a new calf pocket for a total of 13 pockets.

MARK V Jacket- This new jacket design is constructed of durable 500 denier CorduraTM with 1000 denier CorduraTM reinforced elbows and shoulders. The elbows have sleeves to house Kitanica’s Padding System. The MARK V has a total of 13 pockets and is equipped with a detachable hood.

Winter Softshell- this new cold weather fleece employs Polartec Power Shield TM laminated fleece for an incredibly durable and warm soft shell that offers water repellency, wind blocking and abrasion resistant performance.

2-Zip Fleece- this new fleece is constructed of Polartec 300 ThermalproTM offering a layer that provides serious warmth. It’s unique dual entry zips offer a form fitting neck closure that keeps in body heat and has a distinctly utilitarian look.

    Company History

Kitanica was founded by Beej Cronin, master sewer, designer and pattern maker. While working on an antique apple tree nursery in Point Arena, CA in the early '90's, Beej, a self taught designer/pattern maker, who began working with textiles
at the age of 14, started making jackets and clothing that could withstand the rigors of life on a farm. Beej and his brother Chris originally founded Kitanica in Brooklyn, NY in 1995 and moved the business to San Francisco, CA in 1997.

The company name is derived from the word, Chitin (pronounced Kəәi•tin), which is the structural component of insect exoskeletons. In 2001 Kitanica was shelved as Beej moved to pursue teaching and complete a masters degree in education. He has spent the next 8 years teaching math and science to at-risk youth in CA, with clothing design relegated to an occasional hobby. One customer, ”MythBusters” star Adam Savage, had purchased a heavy-duty jacket (MARK IV) and later, unbeknownst to Beej - who doesn't watch TV - was wearing it on episodes of the show. Following this exposure people started to seek out “Adam’s jacket” online. In 2007 a childhood friend of Beej’s alerted him to the
score of inquiries about Adam's jacket and what company made it. With renewed interest in Kitanica products, Beej with brother Chris and their cousin Len Riccio have turned a little bit of buzz into a domestically produced premium tactical
brand that is now sold on nearly every continent and continues to raise the bar of what clothing can be.

The Kitanica Mission: To make the most durable, best fitting men's outerwear from the best possible materials and construction practices to produce a unique, distinctive and utilitarian product.

The Kitanica Lifetime Guarantee: Kitanica offers lifetime coverage against any craftsmanship or manufacturing defects for as long as you own your garment.

Stick - why do I think you will have absolutely NO problem getting a hold of them. Im sure someone already fired off a e-mail, PM, Instant Message or even a pigeon carrier to them saying that you are interested in their stuff and the package is already on their way! I'd possibly be interested in that two piece fleece

BTW - I bet your UPS guy LOVES you!

I'm working on outerwear reviews right now for Military Times, I would like to include some of their stuff as I think its interesting on a few different levels.

Yes, they need help with their imaging as well, I have no doubt they are missing sales based on how their product is showcased on their website, however, I have never solicited photography work, and doubt I ever will. I would never contact a company and tell them they need my work.

LOL, I have never mentioned to anyone, aside from this post, that I had interest in reviewing their product(s), so I doubt anyone has any clue. I also have serious doubts that they have any idea who I am, I think its still a relatively small group of people who know my pictures and what I do.

You give yourself too little credit.
