Hey guys I am new here, but I wanted to give you guys some low-down on Adams Arms and their new Gas-piston system.

I am in possession of the very 1st production copy of their new AR piston system.

open.

Let me start with a brief description of this system.

The system consists of a gas block (with integrated top rail), a handguard ring, piston cup, piston-rod, and spring/bushing.

It is one of the most simple and robust gas piston systems on the market (IMHO).
The piston-rod is high tensile stainless steel, very tough, also wipes down nicely.

1st impressions:
The system looks professional, tough and sexy as hell.
One of the most amazing features: The system is front access. No having to remove rails to get at it. (like some other systems)
Breaks down for cleaning in 2 easy pieces.
No permanent modifications are required, unlike most systems. You can install and uninstall the system in under 20 minutes.

Shooting impressions:

WOW! at least a 30% reduction of felt recoil. I added a Surefire MB556K, so my recoil is down to that of a .22
No gas in the eye, not a single failure in over 1000 rounds (I use Federal .55gr and Partisan .55gr, never any Wolf or other junk).

I held 2" group at 75yds with 2moa Reddot. Clean ejection pattern for brass.

After the 1st 250 rounds, I opened the receiver, pulled the bolt carrier out, and the bolt was cool and clean. No fouling, no mess.

When I was done shooting, I simply boresnaked the barrel, wiped the bolt face down and wiped off the muzzle brake.

That is what I call ease of maintenance

I am going to be doing some independent testing of the rest of Adams Arms offerings over he next few weeks. The 16" Mid-lenght, the 7.5" Pistol and eventually the 20" full sized rifle.

If you have any questions or want more info you can talk to me or call Jasonm at Adams Arms. Unlike most other piston systems, this system is inexpensive ($499), readily available, and actually in production.......
