Picked up a Steiner Night Hunter S35 Gen2 thermal. Been wanting to hunt hogs and coyotes, and it figures that the minute it shows up, the wild hogs move off the property (for the time being)
In the meanwhile, heres my dog (white hot)
Heres a squirrel at around 50yds 4x zoom (red-hot)
Its got four other color scales based on the environment youre in, one may work better than another. So far, this thing is amazingly clear and is easy to use

How much did that set you back? I've been eyeing thermal optics for a while but I have not been serious enough about it to buy one yet. Definitely a want, but not a need.

I paid a little over $3K on sale and then got free shipping (EuroOptic).
It?s a very powerful unit and I liked that it wasnt a traditional scope, like a Pulsar Thermion (which I considered several of), so its more easily used as a handheld unit for tracking a deer for instance taken in a legal hours winter hunt where the daylight has faded
