Atomic Ammunition .45 ACP +P 185 Grain Bonded JHP

The Phoenix, Arizona-based ammunition manufacturing company Atomic Ammunition announces the release of a new self-defense load for the .45 ACP - a 185 grain bonded match jacketed hollow point rated to +P.
The reported specifications includes:
- velocity of 1250,
- 642 foot pounds of energy, and
- 100% weight retention and .83 inches of expansion after penetrating four layers of denim and 18 inches of Perma-Gel ballistic medium.
According to Atomic Ammunition, the test weapon was a 1911 .45 ACP with a five inch barrel.
While this load does not appear on their website, Atomic Ammunition states it will be available sometime late October or early November 2012. The price will be $39.95 for a 50 round box.
