SHOT Show 2013 - Gerber Downrange Tomahawk

This really caught my eye at the Gerber booth. The head is contoured for a secure grip while using the tool as a prybar. G10 scales give it a textured handle. The axe head had a nice edge, while not being overly thin and fragile. I could see adding one of these to my tool bag.

    Overall Length: 19.27"
    Weight: 1.90 lb. without Sheath
    2.25 lb. with Sheath
    Steel Type: 420HC
    Handle Material: G-10

I'd like to get a hold of one for work, it looks like a great breaching tool. Did you get an MSRP?

I did a search earlier and found Gerber's page where you can sign up for an email notification when it's out. Due in April. I didn't see an anticipated MSRP.

ETA: Here is a SHOT show video saying MSRP would be in the $275 range FWIW.

Made in the USA, but at $280 you could get one of each of the new CRKT offerings (at least from one preorder site). They are SK5 steel, which is 1080 spring steel, IIRC.

Designed by Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical, better steel and cheaper. Decisions, decisions...

Agreed, I see the Gerber as more of a $150ish Hawk, maybe we will see street prices under $200, which makes it a much more viable option for working guys who would actually use it.

As a follow up the Columbia River Chogan T-Hawk is now available for $118. The Kangee is available for pre-order at the same price.
