Just came back from camping out in Bandera, TX. I highly recommend that place. VERY cool.

Took this shot with my camera, a tripod, and the use of my Surefire EDCL1.

I like the second better. The stars look glorious and the setting more out in the boonies. The light on the grass in the first gives a back yard feel.

I'd say by the absence of light pollution, he is in the boonies, lit-up tree or not.

Thanks guys! I took about 10 GB worth of photos so I have a lot more. Those two were just some samples but I definitely appreciate the opinions. For about all of no more than 2 or 3 minutes of post processing I think those look alright. If I decide to take some time with them I am sure I could do better.

Every time I go somewhere, after I am back I just pick two or three photos and process those so I can safely say that I have hundreds and hundreds of GB of photos that I haven't even tried to post process yet from various places around the world.

With these though I wanted to do a little something different rather than just a plain vanilla sky shot.

BTW if you have never been to Bandera I would highly recommend it.

Wow, I admit, I know diddly squat about photography, but I can recognize great shots, at least to my mind, when I see them. Great pics of the night sky and milkyway.
