I'm sure this isn't the right spot for this-- and mods please move it as needed.

But how do you remove the color fill on a stripped lower? Picked up a gen 1 Noveske that's immaculate except the horrendous color fill job.

    Thanks guys

Never done it myself but I know of people using brake cleaner and a tooth pick. Some people use Hoppes.

Hoppes and a plastic dental tool work pretty well.

Acetone, some cotton swabs, and toothpicks would be my recommendation. Acetone will strip any oils from the finish, so you'll most likely have to bring the finish back to life with some oil afterward.

    This is correct advise.

Back when I was doing the "building a rifle for a friend" project, he provided me the lower, and it was covered in color fill. A little elbow grease and acetone got rid of the problem. Afterwards, I lubed the surfaces and it looked like new again.

Got colors? Post up any AR15 that isn't just black.

To be 100% truthful, we really wanted to find a nice gen 1 combo set to start my wife's 12.5" SBR project. I must have looked for months with no luck. Then of course for 2-3 days Rainer had them while I was broke...

I literally found this one in a hole in the wall shop. I figured for 90$ it would be hard to lose on it! Haha

And we're thinking of using the BCM A5 Kit
