    The spring is part of a a recoil/ guide rod assembly from SpringCo. I can talk about it a little bit when when I do my first shots video. Works well so far.

    Do you have to use the full length guide rod with the flat recoil spring?

    The entire SpringCo guide rod and recoil spring is proprietary and they need to be used together. I have a standard GI guide rod, plug and spring but I haven't tried them yet.

    Jerry, do you send your 1911's to someone specific for refinishing?

    I'm going to have to get mine cleaned up and I'm apprehensive about doing it myself.

    Not trying to speak for Jerry, but I know those pistols, the Baer Monolith was hard chromed by Baer (can do at Metaloy) and the stainless Ruger above was finished by John Harrison when he built it (brushed/blasted stainless). There's a lot of smiths out there turning out great Ceracote jobs too. Can opt for DLC/PVD as well. I"m going that route on a couple myself.
