I see a trend here... everyone is going for ambi---meaning the manufacturers. Is there a reason for that UW?

Gotta keep up with the trend. San Tan had that market cornered, now there is steady competition with Rainier and CMT alone.

I've never tried a San Tan anything, but I own a CMT billet set and I am L-O-V-I-N-G IT. The rainier looks very very good too. I don't know if I want to buy uppers and lowers from a bunch of different places because I love having a matched set. Don't know why, but I do.

I own a few Rainier parts and I would buy anything they sell pretty much with 100% confidence. Same thing with CMT.

I've toyed with the idea to buy some more uppers and lowers just for the hell of it, but I have no idea what I would build with them yet, although I keep coming back to getting a upper reciever, a match barrel and a longer optic for my longer range and/or paper punching needs. But now that I have my trust set up I can file for some sweet SBR love.

Next up on my list is a suppressor, but threads like this with pics like those above are mighty tempting.

Speaking of shell deflectors... I really do wonder what good they are. I have a slick side upper and I have absolutely zero issues with it. The ONLY thing is depending on the ammo I am shooting the brass will pile up about 4 o'clock and if I shoot something else more hot it piles up about 5 o'clock. I have no shell deflector and it makes no difference (to me). I started out worried about it, but that was solved after half an hour shooting.

I also don't have a forward assist which I find to not be an issue either. The only situation I could tell where it would make a difference is if you are quietly trying to slide a round into the chamber. But if you just pull it and rip it then there is no problem.

It matters to a lefty like me. Prime example with the T&E rifle. I shot a test mag and a good portion either hit my cheek or just barely missed it. The deflector does just enough to keep the brass out of my face.
