    NorthTech Defense Titanium Forward Assist

The Northtech Defense Titanium Forward Assist is a precision CNC machined part to fit all Mil-spec upper receivers, both forged and billet. Manufactured from high strength grade titanium that reduces the weight by 40% over standard steel Mil-spec forward assists. The forward assist button, rod and shell are titanium while the bolt pusher is heat treated chrome moly alloy (to a Rockwell hardness of 45HRC) it’s then black oxided for added wear and corrosion resistance. This is a must have piece that not only makes the Northtech Defense billet upper standout but other uppers as well. A serious upgrade for the AR10/AR15 platform due to it’s construction, materials and stylized design throughout.

    MSRP $49.99

Check them out here at Northtech Defense's site or at your favorite dealer.

Myself, too. I suppose the "flash" is supposed to be part of the attraction. I'd like the weight savings, without the nightlights. But if the natural "white chrome" of Ti doesn't bother you, I guess it's certainly got the cool factor.

While I'm sure this will work fine, the benefits appear to be minimal at best, at an increased cost.

Do you have any idea what a "milspec" unit weighs? I wouldn't know where to start looking, and I'm wondering how much a 40% weight reduction would be?

    Thanks,

.8 oz with the spring. Looks like the Iron Viper Tear Drop Forward assist is also .8 oz's with the spring.

Just as a clarification, from what I was able to weigh, the Mil-Spec Forward assist with spring weighs .8oz. The NorthTech Defense Forward assist weighs .5oz with the spring.
