Also very interested to hear how this coating hold up over the long run, and if they do in fact wear down softer surrounding components.

I've purchased 2 different TiN setups from Parallax.
One has the NiB bolt, the other has a TiN bolt. Haven't used the TiN bolt/carrier yet. You can get a TiN carrier and bolt combo for a little more money. I don't have many rounds with Nitride coated bolts, so I'm not sure how they would perform with this combination.
Probably over thinking it though. Carriers rarely wear out, and bolts have to be replaced eventually.

They say the new ones come with a NIB bolt and they phased out the TIN bolts..
Your right though, about bolt wearing out, was just curious on the coating hardness/wear..etc..

I need a new complete BCU to finish my Voodoo Barrel "Ultra Lite" project, and was considering a Rainier Arms or Spikes Tactical. Mulled this over, went to the website, and lo and behold SOLD OUT!... Oh well.

Yeah..yeah..yeah..
I'd want everything. I'm not sure about TIN, I worked with a lot of TIN machine cutting tools.. and there are some drawbacks, although I doubt that they'd be significant in an AR. I saw this thread a while back, but I went ahead and finished the light weight upper, I knew I'd test it on an existing lower with a NiB unit out of the same gun. I've decided to drop the cerekote and camo dipping, and decided just to finish the new lower, but I need a BCU and trigger to finish.
That's when I read that everything was being offered now for $199, which is about right on par with the other NIB BCG's, and went to check it out, when I saw "Out of Stock"... the 3 words I hear most in the AR world.

As far as I know, they are not making anymore of the polished versions.

First time seeing this. Now I must debate between something like this, ST nickel-boron, or just a standard phosphate. I need to win the lotto

Any reason they went to a torx from an allen for the carrier key?
