    Accuracy test of WMD barrel

    Disclaimers:

    1. This is the first time I have ever shot one of my ARs past 50 yards
    2. This is the first time I have used a magnified optic
    3. This is the first time I have shot this rifle.

    Important rifle specs:

    1. WMD barrel. Midlength 16" govt profile 1:8 twist
    2. CMMG Mil spec FCG
    3. Rifle length buffer assembly
    4. Bushnell AR Optics 3-12 scope

    Rifle in question:

Here is my best group at 100 yards. Just over a 1" 3 round cheater group. I shot on a rest. I used Hornaday 5.56 match 75gr ammo.

I think with a better 2 stage trigger, a bipod, a lot more practice, and a lot more patience, I will be able to get this barrel to shoot sub MOA. I sighted it in with 62 gr mil spec and I was getting better and better groups the more I shot.

Here is the target I was using to sight in with Mil-Spec 62gr ammo. The first high shot was the first shot before I made adjustments. After my final adjustments I was pretty much within the 2" circle with Mil Spec ammo. The second target was also shot with Mil-Spec ammo and I had a few fliers.

On all my other groups with the match ammo, I had a flier which makes the groups really bad. This, again, is due to my lack of experience. I have a strong feeling that with a lot more practice with this setup, I will do much better. There are also plans for a better trigger and a bipod for this setup.

One more piece of advice if I may:

With a fixed stock, you may want to consider going back to more of an angled grip. I've noticed It's more of a straight draw on the trigger vs. my finger being forced to travel in an arc with a more vertical grip. This was causing me to jerk the trigger and pull shots rather than being surprised by the round going off. YMMV. All in all it's a fine looking rig, and a goods day of practice.
It's difficult to soar with eagles, when you work with turkeys...

You may have a valid point there. I was pulling a lot of shots. As you can see most of my shots were on target but I had a lot of fliers. I knew as soon as I let a shot go that I would have a flier. This is why I only got one decent group. I am going to have to pick up Magpul MOE and give it a try.

Is this a WMD barrel you had coated or a barrel they were selling? I'm wondering who makes their barrels.

It is one of their barrels. According to WMD they use "match blanks" and are button rifled. As to who makes them before WMD coats them? Couldn't tell you.
