Bills calling for the elimination of the NFA, GCA, Hughes Amendment, the Bush Ban of '89, and legislation that infringes upon the Second Amendment would be better. Shutting down the ATF would only shift the bureaucracy from one agency to another, and bring the boots of the FBI and DEA to bear on those currently affected by the ATF. And i'd imagine processing of NFA forms would slow to a crawl as a result.

I was under the impression that the firearms and accessories (SBR, SBS, Supressors, etc) were all mentioned by statute. Just getting rid of the ATF (which still has merit) won't eliminate those items being mentioned by name in laws surrounding them.

I mis-spoke in my original post, and have edited it. I meant to say we need to eliminate the NFA, GCA, Hughes amendment, etc., in addition to eliminating the ATF. Merely getting rid of the ATF would only transfer their bureaucratic powers to different agencies, and would in effect do nothing for us as gun owners and pro-2A advocates. In fact, by simply merging the ATF's functions with other agencies, i'd be willing to bet we would be negatively impacted, as i see the processing of forms slowing and the backlog increasing, and less NFA item making it into our hands.

If the HPA passes in its original form there will be no more tax and therefore no excessive fee to transfer an indy registration to a trust. Worth rolling the dice on this one....

My understanding is that NFA items are not "converted" to a trust, but transferred. Technically that is a change of ownership which would require a new $200 stamp even though you own the trust. I believe that is what my Florida Trust lawyer told me. I have two trusts - one Georgia and one Florida. I asked about combining all the items into the Florida trust and he said they would have to be individually transferred - new stamp for each. But that's been a couple of years, and memory fades ...

Will do. I got muzzle devices for several firearms, as well as the .22 cal muzzle brake cap.

So I plan on running the following through it to see how it does:

    AR-15 16" (5.56)
    AR-15 pistol 9" (.300 AAC BO)
    AR-15 16" (.22LR dedicated upper)
    10/22 Take Down (.22LR)
    M1A Scout 18" (.308 Win)
    M700 20" (.308 Win)

A .300 Win Mag is a planned acquisition at some point in my future too, so it'll be run on that as well.

Yep, just about 8 months exactly. The first few months were the toughest as far as my anticipation went, after that I convinced myself to just forget about it.

Impressive for form 4s! These are on part with Form 1 approvals.

0 days would be hugely preferable to 288... Just sayin'.

I've got 6 stamps around the June 6th (check cashed) time frame to July 1st.

I was guessing 9 months, so looks like that's right on track. I'm hoping because of the lack of submissions after 41F rush, post 41F applications will move much faster.

After the rush is processed it should be smooth sailing. May tempt me to make another purchase. But that last minute dump of applications on the ATF may have us seeing approvals from the same submission dates for weeks or not months.
