41F was 7/13/16, right? So, this tells me they are getting close to working through the pre-41F filings. Isn't the general view that there was a sizeable surge and that we should expect to see wait times start coming back down once they are through that surge? I ask because I am hopeful as I'll be dropping a couple of forms in the coming weeks.

Transfer Times
I'll be tempted to get another can if wait times drops to 6 weeks after the surge is processed. I'm sure the entire suppressor market will see some uptick at that point.

Having conducted more than my share of background checks (it was my job before in a previous life) it really makes you wonder exactly how much 'background check' is actually getting done. Probably not a whole lot.
Unless you're dealing with people who are 100% spotless doing a background check is pretty time consuming. For those who are spotless you can have it done in 5 minutes. For others I've seen it take 6-8 weeks before you can unscrew all that stuff. For those who have anything at all... I could only imagine the royal headache somebody up there is having because of this 41F thing.
The system has more holes than swiss cheese. The 'check' is only as good as the database and half the time the database ain't that great.
Basically odds are they are just jumping through hoops as instructed.
