Got a call that one of my Form 4's came in. Not sure which though, and I won't be able to make it down till the end of the month.

well, F&*K.
"It appears your form for the Scorpion 458 has been lost in transit. It was approved some time ago, but I never received it. They require us to wait 30 days and then send a written request for another copy of the form. I have done this already, so a new form should be on its way shortly. Thanks for your patience with all this nonsense."
GGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH! No idea if it's ATF or USPS but my money is on ATF screwing up. Bastards!!-----------------------------------------------

Wouldn't be so sure. My first SBR stamp was lost for about a month and got returned to the ATF. They called me and said they had it... Again and mailed to back to me... Again. By the time I got the original stamp the envelope had been through hell and back. I'd blame the USPS but with two government entities involved it's anyone's guess.

Maybe so... but here's a whole new twist. Got a 2nd email from my dealer... he got the stamp in the mail. It was postmarked the day before he submitted the fax asking for a dupe. So it was approved over 30 days ago, but not postmarked for over a month. Sitting in ATF outgoing? Lost in the Post Office for a month? Who cares... I pick it up on Thursday!

It seems that stamps sit longer in the out basket than they used to. My last F4 was like that. It took a month for it to go from approval status to being post-marked. I need to call the ATF this week, as I have a F4 that should be coming up on its incubation period. It would be nice to know if it's approved, even if it doesn't get mailed for a while.

Not sure how it is now, but (long ago in a galaxy far away) most agencies had their own meters and postmarked their outgoing mail themselves. They (BATFE) may be sitting on them, or just batching them up for mailing. With their current workload, they should have enough mail to do it daily. I can't imagine why they would just hold the approved forms for a month (warning --- conspiracy theory ahead) unless directed to by someone up the food chain.

Since we're on the topic of stamps, is it true when you do a form 1 online that you can just print your stamp? My buddy was telling me they don't mail it if you do eforms.
