After being inspired by the work of BC I took the leap.

I finally worked up the nerve to mod the grip on my M40. I wish I had done it sooner. The front and back strap were slick in my opinion. Bought a wood burning kit at Hobby Lobby that had adjustable heat. It worked great.

    The results:

I left the sides as is because this is a carry gun and I didn't want clothes snagging or my skin chewed up. The pistol is so much more controllable.

Very nice looking job, especially considering it's your first.

Thanks! I did about 10 minutes on a PMag, then went to the Steyr. It's a different pistol now.

I just saw a picture of mustangfreeks stipple job he had done on his M&P. Now I really like that pattern. If he's reading, hopefully he can post the pic again.

Good work man! Pyzik is right, you lines look pretty good for a first attempt. Lines are the most important aesthetic of a stipple job.

I've been too busy to even lurk on this forumn for awhile. Links?

On another note, I havent been posting because the real job got real and I'm busy running my security company's tech program in the Detroit area. We work in some pretty deep hood so we put two guys on every job if we can. (Its bad enough that we recently implemented a rule that we dont stop at stop signs in the hood after dark wherever possible.)
I do have a little time for stippling though and im churning out a couple more unicorns for China doll lower owners as well as handling some other orders. Pictures will follow sometime soon.

It looks like he is working with relatively low heat levels and moving slowly. I tried that kind of pattern early on but never really liked the way it felt in the hand.

Keep it up! If you pay attention to your results and learn from them your skill level will increase even more quickly.
