CAA Bipod and YHM BUIS.??'s

Does anyone have experience with these items in use? Im considering them for a build I'm accumulating parts for and would like to hear some opinions.

I have a CAA bipod and a fake version. The CAA version has rubber pads on the legs. I shoot mainly in an area that has a rock and shell surface. The rubber pads didn't last too long. The fake has metal pads and it's doing well. Neither is a great bipod but they do what I want them to do. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

On the YHM front or rear BUIS?

Thanks TS.. Im looking at both sites. The front will mount on a YHM lightweight forearm. The rear will be sitting behind a Leup Mk4.

Also what do you guys think of other bipods like the GG&G, Tango Down, etc.

The YHM sights lack the name appeal, but are generally a pretty solid little unit. There are threads in the guide section that give info and pictures on both front and rear BUIS.

While there are other sights I like better, there are worse units on the market that cost more, and they are obviously better than the Airsoft knockoff versions that are all over Ebay.

This will mostly be a varmint/target rifle.

If the BUIS is going to be strictly just in case, the YHM will work. The GG&G / Bobro is one helluva good bipod. There's a review of it somewhere on the site.

I think you are on the right track with your idea. Make sure you loctite (or some form of thread locker) them, but thats pretty much par for the course on BUIS in general, especially ones with coarse threads.

Out of all the manufacturers I work with, I have no real contact with anyone in the knife community. Thats why you never see knives in any of the pictures I shoot. No one wants to see my beatup Kukri in pictures....

Hey guys, thanks for the input. I think the YHM BUIS set will work fine for my purpose. I think I will shoot for the GG&G or maybe Tango Down Bipod too after reading TS's feedback.

Regarding bipods, I would take a look at the Bobro, not the GG&G. I'll IM you and explain why in a little more depth. They are NOT the same, contrary to what Tiger Stripe wrote.

Not a big deal, for clarity, the bipod was designed by Andrew Bobro, in both of its evolutions. Another company did take his original design and build a similar one.

Thats a fantastic looking Bipod! I hate to be a PITA but where do you get one and what do they cost? I would much rather have the real deal, and we have many of these "issues" in the knife world too.

Trace, check out the LaRue badged Troy BUIS, they are the Cadillac of BUIS and something ya can always depend on.

It's like matching a Rinaldi blade up against a Cold Steel blade and expecting the cold steel to preform as good as the Rinaldi (and yes befor ya ask I have a Rinaldi blade )
