noveske gen 2 vs gen 3 lowers
Been trying to figure this out, I know the Noveske gen 2 lowers are forged, and the gen 3 are billet, but they look almost identical. How can you tell them apart? Let's say you wanted a forged gen 2 and were only going off pictures, any clues to look for? Maybe i'm just slow

Easiest way to tell is on the right side of the receiver. The mag button "fence" extends partially down the mag well on the gen 2s. Not so with the 3s.

Gen 2's are also anodized vs Gen 3's are cerakoted. Gen 3's are lighter in color.

When Sheri was still at Noveske, I told her I thought it was an odd move, because the cerakoted lowers don't match the anodized ones. People out there matching Gen2 lowers with Gen3 uppers probably weren't going to be pleased, especially the OCD ones.
I think some of the the thinking at the time was, they didn't have plans to sell the Gen 3 lowers stripped anytime soon. Obviously those plans changed.

Are the Gen 3's anodized and then cerakoted?
