    AK-47

Am I better off buying a parts kit and getting an American chromed line barrel and trying to find a receiver or should I just save up and get a Century or Arsenal one already made. Really want to add one of these to the collection just do not know anything about the weapon at all.

depends, are you going to build it? if so, do you already have a 30 ton press and all the jigs? that can be expensive just for 1 build. as for sending it off to be built, kits are not $99 any more, plus the big bucks a good builder wants these days. when the kits were abundant, you could get them built cheap, not to many folks doing it anymore at a reasonable cost. I'd say shop around, compare prices for a build and a new rifle.

Yeah I don't have the tools. Would like something that I can put my own stock on (UBR or fixed MOE) and a synthetic forend with a rail

that is possible. I have a few builds from years ago that I left original. then a fellow offered me a century WASR cheap. it has a few "rough" edges, but it runs just as good as the others. since this photo, I've changed the rear sight and put a mico dot on it.

Most wasr and imported ak's utilized chrome lined barrels. If you want a u.s. built ak47, centurion arms c39 is all u.s. manufactured and at a $600 price tag for CHF bbl, solid steel bar cnc receiver, you can't go wrong.

Even the century arms are worthy of it's price as it too also has chrome lined bbl and unused surplus kits. Plus, their quality are greatly improved in the past few years!! Win-win

It's cheaper to buy then build. I'll be adding one when.black friday rolls around!

Yep the C39 Sporter looks interesting enough. Will wait to see what prices look like on black Friday as well. I should be able to swap to the AK MOE grip from magpul on these right? What is all involved in the stock conversion? I am thinking a fixed MOE stock would be what I would want on it. And this is where I would test out the PA RDS as well.

the century c39 has a milled receiver. I have not seen a ar type stock extension for milled, only stamper receivers. I can't think who I got my rail from. i'll try to dig around and see.

Good news for you people wanting moe parts!!

Strike industries just gave us a panty sneak peal of their upcoming buttock adapter that's adjustable to accommodate the varying ak receivers from manufacturers to manufacturers.!!

Only downside to the c39 is it doesn't have the scope mount adapter (unless it has changed since I last researched it 3 months ago).

One more thing if you still want to build it. There is a thread on arfcom where a guy literally built his own with his gunsmith help. While his ak was PURE gun porn quality, he said he spent a good 6k or so (that's including making the ak into a AKM - no wood) that also include gunsmith fees and such.

Yes to the grips, I don't know for the stock. Fairly sure someone done it though.

I like the wood furniture on the AK, it balances them out well.

did someone say wood? here is a romy g kit I built with a little help from my friend.

the hand guards didn't come with that kit. I must have mixed and stained that wood 10 times before I could get a close match of the stock.
