I like Fortis stuff, this should be pretty nice if their current product line is an indication. Good to see them doing more.
So the comment from UW about them contemplating an FFL just got me thinking... How many of us are there that would buy an upper receiver stripped or otherwise knowing that a matching lower from the same manufacturer doesn't exist?
Speaking for myself as a relative noob to the AR platform, my first "build" if you could call it that was a complete upper from one source and a lower I assembled from another. I was happy with the gun, it ran great, etc. but it just bothered me that there was a rather drastic difference in the finish of the receivers. I parted it out, the subsequent two builds I have done used matching receivers.
I know the "it's a tool" crowd will say just that and I get it, and agree. However, I doubt I'll do the mismatch thing again. Never may be too strong a word here, but it discovered I have a strong preference.
So I guess the question is whether or not companies selling only uppers are missing any bit of an opportunity? Or is it a non-issue?
Just curious... What say you guys?

I say cerakote it to match haha. But in all honesty I am a "set" guy as well. I just believe that sets match up for appearance and for fit.
Sent from my Windows Phone 8.1Just a regular guy.

It would be good if Fortis would get a FFL.

I see your point on wanting everything to match but it doesn't bother me that they don't make lowers. Vltor is known for their uppers and I don't know of anyone who owns one of their lowers. Most of my AR's are frankenbuilds, I haven't purchased a complete rifle in awhile.
