American Sniper trailer (starring Bradley Cooper)
The first teaser for the book based movie American Sniper is out. It definitely looks thrilling, I expect no less from Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper.

Agreed. I read the book about one month ago. Good book, but a little out of place it seemed.
Hope the movie is a knockout and not a bust.

Oh, I am so seeing this movie. It looks intense (as it should be). Bradley Cooper always stars in SFMs, so I am skeptical of his role in this movie. But I saw where he went to a sniper school and spent time sleeping in barracks and participating in military days-in-the-life-of activities so maybe he's got some serious focus for this.

Well, so is Marky Mark. And he just keeps cranking out movies where he shoots everybody. So are a lot of Hollywood elites.
Bear this in mind: casting directors and such seek out the actors that may fit the movie and have them do auditions. And in my opinion I don't care how anti-gun an actor is so long as they accurately and faithfully portray an individual, his actions, and his legacy.
Secondly, how is an anti-gun actor's role in this movie a disservice to Kyle's legacy? Kyle wasn't a sniper because he was pro-gun no more than he joined the military because he was pro-gun. He was PRO-SERVICE and that is Kyle's legacy. His tool was a rifle, but that wasn't his only tool.
Purporting by inference that Kyle's legacy is solely that he was pro-gun is doing a disservice to his legacy.

There is a hypocrisy in someone who is anti-gun, making money from anything to do with guns, especially making movies which require firearms use in an action role.
I would much rather not see a movie starred by a person who is extremely against my rights, but then I am not exactly the average person when it comes to these types of things.
This has nothing to do with the movie itself, Kyle, or his/others service. I am pointing it out so people do not misunderstand the context.
