Eotech won't fit on seekins 223 upper
I have been baffled as to why my eotech wouldn't fit on my seekins upper. So I dragged out the calipers. Here are some pictures.
1. Sig 716 21.14mm
2. Fortis Rail 21.00mm
3. Northtech defense upper 21.18mm
4. Seekins 223 upper 21.40
Picatinny rail specs call for 21.20mm
any suggestions? Grinder?

You can say that again. I hate the f-ING thing. Model 512
I'd sell it if I could get my money out of it

I learned something new today (the actual spec for mil spec rails)...
The Eotech won't open up any wider than that to still fit on the rail?

Alamo, sadly no. The metal frame underneath is just shy of the needed width

It's been awhile since I owned a 512, but can you open the clamps underneath and get it a bit wider?

Can you put up a pic of the base of the Eotech? (facing inside of it)? Try to show which points are making contact.
Might be a better idea to mod the optic vs try to mod the rail. You always can (and will) end up getting new optics.... and plus if you say shave a little off of the underside of the eotech it won't be as cosmetic than working on the whole rifle.
EDIT: If this was something other than an Eotech I probably would not suggest thisLast edited by alamo5000; 9 November 2014 at 15:24.

Maybe it's just me but the seekins seems to be the problem. Try a GG&G throw lever. It may give you the clearance you need. I got one from botach two years ago for 20 bucks.

This could be an option but surgery is after all, surgery. If it were me I would try to figure out where exactly is making contact and focus there. It's not like you have to take off a lot.
Also don't they make QD plates for these kinds of Eotech's?
(EDIT: )
Another option is to throw that sucker on gunbroker and get what you can get and then invest in something else optics wise.Last edited by alamo5000; 9 November 2014 at 16:10.

Why not contact seekins before attempting surgery? If their upper is out of spec they will want to hear about it as it gives them information for their QC division.

Why do people insist on shaving metal before contacting the manufacturer?
