The Modern Gun Class: Your Guide to Picking the Right Course and Instructor

A friend of mine and instructor Mark Williams with the Trigger Time Gun Club in Colorado wrote this article, and I think for anyone considering formalized training it's worth the read.

I have considered taking some courses but I have a few hesitations about it. First hesitation is that there are too many 'instructors' that come across as Rambozos...I don't want to name names but I've met a youtube guy who is sort of well known (sometimes not for good things) and he came across as being a real jackass. I didn't like the cockiness from his direction. Personality matters. The other part of it for me is getting into the right subject matter.

All be told though I would like to take courses in pistols, long range shooting, and a few other things that I find interesting. I just have to find the money and the right instructors...I have a few criteria that I would like to see... once I see it I would try my hand at a class. But unfortunately I have found too many 'instructors' that come across as jerks or aren't really any better than I am at things, but they are just selling something. Judging who really knows their stuff is at times easy and at others not so easy.

If I could pick one trainer to have a free one-on-one, without hesitation i would say Frank Proctor from 'Way of the Gun'

I actually have a compiled list of what are to be considered the better trainers in long range precision shooting. Several of them are also excellent for pistol as well...

Here's the ones in TX for you...

    TX - Adam Wilson with 1MOA Solutions - https://www.facebook.com/1MOASolutions

    TX - Chance Giannelli with R4 Evolution - https://www.facebook.com/r4evolution

TX - Josh Ruby with North Texas Rifle Precision - https://www.facebook.com/pages/North...n/170312972517

TX - Maverick Stroud with Pumps Precision Rifle Training in TX

TX - Paul McCoy with PMAC Precision - https://www.facebook.com/pmacprecision

    TX - RIFLES ONLY, Inc. - https://www.facebook.com/riflesonly

TX - TJ Pilings with Tiger Valley - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tiger...36904473034699

TX - Todd Hodnett with Accuracy 1st, Inc - https://www.facebook.com/accuracy1st

Add: Everyone on that I listed in your State has been vetted within the precision shooting community which in TX is fairly large. You're actually lucky since TX has so many places to choose from.
