    Mega Maten .308 build

Finished up the Mega build with the exception of a muzzle device. Magpul OD green Cerakote. Rainier Arms Ultra match finished in tungsten high temp Cerakote. Rainier bolt. CMC single stage trigger. AXTS ambi 45/90 safety and ambi charging handle. PRS stock and Hogue grip. Steiner 3-12x50 FFP mil-dot Military optic. All assembly and coatings done by myself. And yes I know the pics suck compared to most on here.

    Very Nice!

That's my only regret when I finished my 2 MATEN's... that none of them were the MKM variety. I really wish I would have gone with the Extended Rifle Length MKM.

I guess I could always do a Megalithic.

    Thank you guys.

Every time I start a Mega build they come out with something else I want. The Megalithic's are sweet for sure. I have some more of their lowers that I bought when no one knew what was going on in Md.

The new Rainier 6.5 Creedmore barrel is certainly going to wind up on one. This was originally going to be a 6.5 but the wait for a good barrel turned me away from it at the moment. Maybe a standard billet upper and a Fortis switch.

    Lol It never ends.

I wish I had the range to stretch the legs of a 6.5 Creedmore. The last time I was at Rainier, they tried to get me to buy one of those new barrels. I don't think it's anymore accurate, but I do like the looks of the SDM Ultramatch.

I am actually leaning toward a direct thread mid priced can on this one. Start putting dedicated cans on some instead of rotating them around. Shooting suppressed only and not even having a brake on it.

That sounds like logic and that has no place in gun or gun part purchases.

I know the cooling effect of flutes is minuscule at best, but if I ever saw a fluted barrel that looked like it would cool faster it's those SDM's. Reminds me of the JP heat sink profile cut into the barrel. Only seen photos so you would have a better perspective.

And tell your Rainier connections a .338 Federal next.
