Truth about ammo ban?
Does anyone know the whole truth about the proposed "pen and phone" 5.56 ammo ban?
I was under the impression it was only green tip that they were trying to ban, again, bypassing congress, and using the ATF as a pseudo 4th legislative branch.
Various major news agencies are saying that it includes all 5.56 ammo, another of our lawless leader's backdoor schemes to ban the AR 15. The rational, now being it could be used in a pistol as a "cop killer" round. In fact, not one agency even mentioned "green tip", "armor piercing, or anything else, just 5.56 "AR ammo".
I can't seem to find the whole truth about this ammo, except that some congressmen are "surprised" that the POTUS, would try to circumvent the U.S. Constitution again. Right. Expect your friendly retailer to jack the price up 10X the going rate, again.NRA Life Member

A complete 5.56 ammo ban will not go over well.

From all I have read and heard its only M855, green tip stuff. Doesn't surprise me that some news agencys are saying an all out ban. It would explain why all the 556 is flying off the shelves.

JHoward, I think an all out ban on any ammo would not go over well. But I'm concerned about a ban, not the aftermath. I sure hope Stone is right. But this President is an all out shameless wannabe dictator, and congress doesn't seem to have the freakin balls to put him in his place.

Just to say, what if....
What if 5.56 is banned? Everyone moves to .300 Blackout? .223 only? Or how does that work? 5.56 as in 5.56 NATO stuff being banned would be devastating, but I don't see how they figure they can ban any round that is nearly the size/shape of a 5.56 round?NRA LIFE MEMBER

Update: Today FOX News story ran and stated that it was "green tip" "armor piercing" ammo that the ATF was trying to ban. I'm guessing some of the more "left wing" news organizations were either very poor in vetting their stories, or intentionally did so to bolster a liberal feeding frenzy, in support of Obama's "pen and phone" legislation.

If they plan to ban "green tip armor piercing" then we should be good since green tip ammo isn't armor piercing
