    CBC/Brazilian Surplus Ammo

I see there is a quite a bit of this stuff available right now. It seems to be good brass cased, annealed, 55grn. 5.56x45. Has anyone here shot very much of it? The price looks very attractive and I'm considering purchasing 2,000 rounds of it. Any insight is most appreciated.

So far I've only done 100y accuracy testing with it (albeit CBC 77gr SMK) and it's fared very well compared to IMI and BH ammo out of both my MK12 and my Noveske N4. I haven't been able to stretch it out at distance yet, but the next time I'm at a distance range (it will be a while), I'd like to run the CBC 77gr to see how it does.

That said, if the 55gr does as good as the 77gr has done so far, seems like a good deal. Personally I jumped on the IMI M193 bandwagon, but I haven't heard anything negative about the CBC stuff.

Thank you for the reply gatordev. My thinking was that the Brazilians have been fighting FARC and other groups for a long time and probably wouldn't screw around with their ammunition. I already bought 1,000 rounds because I figured at that price it would be worth it, but have not had a chance to use it. Thank you for your take on the heavier grain stuff. I will get back to my range shortly and give a report. My gut feeling is that this is solid ammo, but it's nice to hear other opinions. Gracias.

Ammoman or AIM has it; several other places as well. The stuff I bought was packed in MAGTECH boxes but it's Brazilian surplus. http://www.ammoman.com/556x45mm-cbc-...556a-m193-1000

Keep in mind the link I provided is NOT boat tail ammo. I view boat tails as a negative but I know a lot of guys view it as a positive so be advised.

I have only used the CBC 7.62 147 Grain Ball, have not tried their 5.56. The 308 stuff works fine and reasonably accurate.

Thank you for the reply Jerry R. I'm a bit swamped at the moment but hope to get out on the range ASAP and have something to report back on my end.

I wasn't super impressed with the accuracy of their 7.62 but it functioned well. Their 77 gr OTM is pretty good, especially for the price. I wish I could find some more.

My Remington 700 .308 did NOT like the CBC 147gr; the brass seemed really soft, and when I would fire it, I'd almost have to hammer the bolt open because the freshly fired case would get stuck in the chamber.

I did buy some 77gr CBC OTM based on the price (even though I reload, it was pretty darn cheap)

Pretty good for like 59 cents a round.

BoilerUp & Former11B; thank you for your contributions here. Soft brass? Hmmm, that's disconcerting. I was hoping to reload this stuff.

I reloaded some of the 5.56 with no issues
