    Considering an ultra-light weight build

The above Rainer wishlist will run $583.68 without shipping (maybe less with LEO discount?). Only stuff that is not Ti are the KNS pins, rail, ejection door and saburtube.

Throw in a 10.3 MK18 barrel and a CMT upper that's what I am considering.

    Opinions?

Looks interesting. What trigger? And why KNS pins at all? Are they lighter than standard pins?

Probably ALG or Spikes battle trigger (since I have one of each sitting around)

I put KNS pins on all my guns. Had a pin walk out on me once (OEM install, not mine) and I said f-that, never again.

That would be awesome. May as well get a lightweight gas block too.

I thought about it but I have a gas block already that is pretty light.

Definetly looks like a solid build for sure. What muzzle device and BCG? Some you have lying around? Those parts could be TI as well of course.

Not a fan of the V7 dust cover, it lacks the bump that prevents it from opening up all the way so it gets in the way when you try to put your upper back on your lower, and it'll scratch the hell out of your lower if you're not careful.

So not an issue. Close dust cover, pair upper and lower. I run these.

As you know, the barrel, handguard, stock and optics are where it really matters, then you hit the point of diminshing returns pretty quickly. I did go with a V7 carbine tube and end plate on my lightweight build (paired with MFT minimalist stock).

But beyond that, the extra cost of some of those small parts just doesn't seem worth it. I'm not going to add up the extra cost and weight advantage for those small pieces, but I'm guessing that is in the ball park of an extra $150 to save less than 2 or 3 ounces of weight. From a practical point of view, it's the equivalent of picking up a few more Pandora charms - you do it because you want to.

    Just some ideas to consider:

The BCM KMR is still the lightest on the market by a decent margin ( V7 sells a titanium KMR barrel nut too ):
    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-K...-9-556-blk.htm

I believe it's like 6oz with the BCM steel barrel nut vs. the SLR Ultra Lite at around 8-8.5 oz with barrel nut.

Titanium BCs can shave off a good 4oz+: http://www.stcroixtactical.com/produ...group-ar15-m16

Also, Faxon has some incredibly light barrels. They make the barrels for that Mag Tactical barrel:

Those are not scratches.. they are character marks. A beat up gun is a loved gun, it means it works and love to work it.
    Just a regular guy.
