    Aero M5 Build

After a few AR builds, I was itching to do a .308 build. Let the ordering (and cardboard box collection) commence! After a long wait for my FFL to get back from vacation, it's on to assembly.

    Aero M5 Upper Receiver
    Aero NiB BCG
    Ballistic Advantage 18" Barrel
    VG6 Precision Gamma
BCM Mod 4 Charging Handle (modified)
    Odin Works 15.5" Handguard
    Syrac Ordnance Adjustable Gas Block

    Aero M5 Lower Receiver
    Aero LPK
    Geissese SSA-E
    Phase 5 Bolt Catch
    Seekins Ambi Selector
    Seekins Mag Release

The BCM Mod 4 charging handle needed to be modified to clear the lower receiver. A bit of quick work on the mill, a touch of the file, and some Super Black.

I was also concerned about upper receiver to rail fitment, as Odin offers two different rail height adapters. The 2.06 was required, but I couldn't find anyone using this combo. Here's the fitment:

Headspace check passed Go/No-Go. Another benefit of ordering a BCG and Barrel from the same parent company.

Final product, though I'm waiting on glass. Hoping to find a good Black Friday deal. Time to start developing a couple of .308 loads!

Great looking rifle and write up. Didn't realize the M5 upper and BCM had issues like that. Seems like your solution works just fine.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, some reported the BCM would clear, many others had the same issue I did. This picture doesn't show it very well, but it would rub on those nubs and hang up.

Nice rifle. I've got the .308 itch myself. Maybe one of these days i'll scratch it. Looks like you picked some quality components. I'd love to hear how the barrel you chose performs. Update us with a range report when you get some rounds down the pipe.

Looks good. What do you think of that stock? Also, how much does the rifle weigh?

I like the stock. It's cheaper than a PRS, lighter, and doesn't pull my beard. Rifle weighs in at 8lb. 10oz. with just irons, no magazine.

Looks like a good build and probably a fun shooter..I had a pile of the same parts, but some things hit the the fan so had to abort it..

Any idea what it weighs as is with a loaded mag?

Thank you! With a full 20 round PMAG it shows 10lb 2oz.
