I actually hadn't even thought about that. Nice one.

I wasn't sure how rare these lowers were anymore, but the price was right so I pulled the trigger.

They are increasingly rare. I recently sold one in a set for more than I paid recently. Probably because the uppers are hard to find. But the Rainier uppers have the same anodizing for a good match.

MI booty. Anyone know why the angled flat area near the front on right side of the receiver rod? Also curious if the S&W 5.45 upper is close enough to use the rod even if not a perfect tight fit.

I think the angled flat area allows the dust cover to close while the rod is inserted, in case you are installing the cover and want to test function.

The end of the rod is tapered so that it basically has a universal fit for barrel extensions that fit the AR15 upper receiver.

Looking forward to hearing how you like this rod. I have both of the Geissele rods, which I find extremely useful, but I feel like MI may have added a couple of improvements.

You nailed it. Uppers are really hard to find, I still have 2 Forged Uppers that I've never used, and all I see are people looking to buy uppers since Lowers were still somewhat available after they shut down the line.

I’m sitting on a 6 pack of Gator lowers and uppers. I bought them before the Md law change but it certainly paid off. A few MaTen sets also.

I have one MATEN Megalithic Set I wanted to build up, but it's gone completely by the waist side.

Do you guys know what other uppers fit the maten lower? Their description made it appear proprietary.

Armalite pattern function but fit poorly. Pretty much proprietary.

Thanks. Sinner. I grabbed an extra stripped upper a while back just in case. Zev bailed on supporting/continuing it. And GGP changed format too.

Not many manufacturers use the AR-10 cut, other than KAC, I can't really think of any.

Older CMMG and Noveske’s used the Armalite pattern along with a few others I can’t recall. Definitely a dying design.

Knight's and LMT fit perfectly. I ran a MATEN lower with my SR-25 upper when I lived in CA, and you wouldn't notice the difference...other than the nice ambi bolt release on the MATEN. Larue will also fit fine.
