800 yards with an AR15
I went shooting today. Towards the end I decided to try something new. I wanted to see if I could hit the 800 yard plate.
The plate is 24" square.
The first picture is a 8 out of 10 hits at 800 yards. All were shot with my 16" AR15 using only my new bipod as a rest. I was shooting 69 grain Sierra MatchKing bullets over 24.3 grains of Varget using Lake City brass.
Here is a shot with more hits. Same set up.

A .22LR... I would be willing to give it a go and see how far I can accurately hit with it :) I don't know if it will be 800 yards though LOL
For some reason I like testing the limits on stuff :)
I also used a couple hundred left over rounds of freedom munitions ammo...box said 69 grain but i think there was some hornaday 68 in there too. I could hit with that to 500 yards with no rezero. I pounded the 400 yard plate with it. 500 I could hit as well. 600 nope. I was actually kind of surprised that without changing anything I was hitting pretty good.Last edited by alamo5000; 18 September 2015 at 10:46.
