I bought the full set, and I can't decide on a few things. My set is off to get Cerakoted in Magpul FDE right now
Here's what I have so far:
Upper -
GFY Receiver
V7 Lightweight Door
Lantac E-BCG
(Not sure about CH, eyeballing the new Geissele ambi one)
GFY Rail
(Not sure about barrel - Either 16" or 18" - anyone have suggestions? (been looking at Ballistic Advantage Hanson Series))
(also haven't picked a muzzle device)
Lower -
GFY Receiver
CMC Flat 3.5
BAD EPS Pins
BAD ASS Safety
Strike Industries Mag Release
Strike Industries Bolt Catch/Release
Magpul K2+
(Can't decide on Magpul MOE Fixed Rifle Stock or Magpul SL-S or STR)
Optic options are wide open - Haven't really picked this rifle's purpose yet.
Anyone have any suggestions on any of this?

I think I've decided I want to go lightweight with it and make it all purpose. I'd go with a 14.5", but I'm so indecisive about muzzle devices, I can't get myself to pin and weld one, and don't want to SBR it.
So.... I guess, suggestions for a lightweight build, anyone?

I'm not sure a Billet Set would be the way to go on LW build.

Wonder how many ounces we're talking between this set and a forged set? Maybe I should be a little more specific. I definitely want to keep it lightweight, but I'm not necessarily going for BAD-LW and titanium parts lightweight, just light enough to run drills with and run around with, if that makes sense.
Has anyone tried out the Ballistic Advantage LW Hanson Barrels?

Yes!?! I have the 18" standard version. So far I've been thoroughly impressed. The ballistic advantage Hanson series is one of my favorite barrels out there.
As far as the billet vs forged. As long as your not going for BAD-LW as you mentioned the billet will work but as UW mentioned isn't the lightest overall. [Insert billet vs Forged Debate]

I purchased a 16" Hanson a few months back when it was their barrel of the week. I think i paid $189 shipped, and that included a pinned low profile gas block. I share Dstrbdmedic's opinion...i'm impressed.

The SMOS set is 18.3oz. a typical forged set is 17oz. Not much difference.
If you want lightweight, look at Faxon pencil barrels. 17.5oz for 14.5 and 19oz for 16". Not designed for precision once heated up but if your purpose is short range defensive, you're in biz.

Roger that. I've got an 18" gunner for my other SMOS upper.
