federalist22 - it's a throwback to our founding fathers and the Federalist Papers.

"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms." -- James Madison, The Federalist Papers

"The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed." -- Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers at 184-188

As for 22, February 22nd is my birthday (also George Washington's) and adding a number the first time makes it easy to get a username validated when joining a site.

Well, it's an abbreviated version of my company name. Figured it was better than "Flashlight", which is what the local LEOs call me on their tac channels. I can only poke fun at myself for so long...

I liked hunting baboons while in Africa. Got were I could call them back after shooting out the alpha male. Kill the king & watch the troupe go into a power struggle.
Out through the night and the whispering breezes
To the place where they keep the imaginary diseases

The Fifth Profession was a novel written by David Morrell back in 1990. It dealt with professional close-protection and it's connection to what the author called 'the fifth profession', protecting others. The "47" referrences the Japanese story of "The 47 Ronin" who were a band of masterless Samurai. The term ronin became associated with a samurai who was for hire, having no one master.

When I started posting to internet forums several years ago I just put the two together.

    Shadco

A fishing buddy started calling me Shad after I would take him out Fly fishing for Hickory Shad and whip him 100 to 1 every time.

Then I showed him my secret weapon for light tackle striper fishing and he said you ought to go into business making them You could call the company Shadco. I've been using that for my online handle for well over 10 years and haven't seen a reason to change.

Nothing fancy, it was my first callsign in the Army:
    Charlie: C-Coy
    2: 2nd Platoon
    6: callsign for the Platoonleader

After my active duty I went to the reserves and have transferred through a number of units. Currently on the roster of a Mech Inf Regt. Everybody in the unit calls me LT, since that's my rank.
