Swift 75 Grain Scirocco II








The Swift 75 grain Scirocco II is a heavy .22 caliber (0.224”) polymer-tipped, bonded bullet with a ballistic coefficient of 0.419. What else could you ask for in a “blind to barriers” projectile? Oh, and did I mention that it’s accurate too?

The 10-shot group pictured below was fired off the bench from one of my Krieger barreled AR-15s (1:7.7” twist) at a distance of 100 yards using a hand-load topped with the 75 grain Scirocco II. The group has an extreme spread of 0.87”. (The rounds were loaded to magazine length and fired from the magazine.)










The Swift Bullet Company has announced that it will begin producing factory-loaded ammunition using their own bullets. One of the announced selections is a 223 Remington load topped with the 75 grain Scirocco II.


While this ammunition is being marketed as hunting ammunition, the 75 grain Scirocco II bullet is on Dr. G.K. Roberts’ list of approved “blind to barriers” projectiles.

I have about 2500 69gr SMK and 4000 75gr Hornadays... if I had the time and inclination to do so I would do more load development to see what I can get using various bullets and powders.

Keep your tests coming. This one looks like a solid performer.

Another question. ..have you noted increased copper fouling from gold dot and scirroco projectiles in average barrels (not your kreiger, which I'm sure is slicker than Al Sharpton's tax advisor)) due to their 100% copper during higher round counts?

I haven't, but I haven't been paying to close of attention to the matter.

Clearly very few people not supported by a government wallet will be buying this stuff. Beyond maybe a scant few boxes for purely testing and writing a review.

You want to see pain, look up Weatherby factory ammo. Especially Nosler Partitions. Thank goodness for handloads.

Plenty of people will buy it. It's meant for hunters. SWIFT doesn't even HAVE and AR-15, has no interest in them, and doesn't really care a whole heap of a lot how this round works in an AR-15. They won't even be testing them in AR-15's. That said, if you use a .223 to hunt with, then it's a good option, and SWIFT is loading for THAT customer.

Why not just spec a barrel with excessive freebore and load conventional rounds "hot"?
