    P-415-16-P11SX-6.8 SPC MID-LENGTH

Statement from the POF-USA Web Page:

SEMI-AUTO 16" GAS PISTON RIFLE W/C.R.O.S.+ (NP3 COATING), P-11SX RAIL, HEAT SINK BARREL NUT, BILLET LOWER, TIMNEY TRIGGER, VLTOR CLUBFOOT BUTTSTOCK W/MIL SPEC TUBE (7.8 LBS)

    $1,995 MSRP

P.O.F-USA has engineered, manufactured and tested this system. We are extremely proud of the durability and performance of the P-415 / P-416 Gas-Piston uppers. We have eliminated features of the Gas Operating System such as gas-rings, gas tube, gas key. The P-415 / P-416 Gas-Piston system also eliminates Heat, Carbon build up and Gas Leaks which can have an adverse effect on the operating system. The biggest issue being "HEAT". A weapons first priority, must be "RELIABILITY".

We first displayed our gas piston uppers at the 2004 Shot Show. We have engineered the entire system using standard "AR15/M16" style parts such as the flat top receiver and bolt. We add only three additional parts to operate our gas piston uppers (Gas plug, Gas piston, and push rod). All uppers come standard with C.R.O.S+ ™ (Corrosion Resistant Operating System), which allows our weapon system to operate without the need of lubricant.

    Information and Specifications:

    Barrel:
    - 16" Heavy contour, Fluted to reduce weight and Heat
    - 4150 Mil-B-1159F Vanadium Alloy (machinegun rated)
    - 70 Rockwell case hardened heat treated "5R" polygonal barrels are 2X harder then Mil-Spec & Hammer Forged barrels
    - Corrosion resistant and 10 times thicker and hardness than mil-spec chromed lining
    - "5R" Polygonal Rifled barrels from Rock Creek Barrels, Inc.
    - FMC-A3 Muzzle Device
    - 6.8 SPC Spec II Chamber

    Method of Operation:
    - Gas Piston operated, rotating bolt (short stroke system)
    - Reversible piston / gas trap design (adjustable: two modes of fire)
    - C.R.O.S.+ (Corrosion Resistant Operating System): NP3 Coating
Chrome plated: Barrel, Gas Block/Tube (billet machined), Gas Plug (billet machined), Gas Piston (billet machined), Bolt Carrier Assembly (Integral Keyed Billet Machined), Teflon Nickel plated A3 Flattop Upper Receiver and Charging Handle.
OUR GAS PISTON WEAPON SYSTEMS REQUIRING NO LUBE!

POF-USA is proud to introduce a 3.375" long oversized heat sink barrel nut and a silicon nickel plated upper receiver as options (patent pending).

Our gas piston weapon system operates cooler and does not require oil or lubricant. We are the only AR-15/M-16 manufacturer to offer these features!

When designing this system, our first priority was to eliminate heat. Our gas piston weapon system design is strong and rigid which helps to eliminate flex in the flat top receiver.

As a standard feature on our gas piston weapon system, each part of the operating system is hard chrome plated which makes it easy to clean and maintain.

Our barrel designs reduce heat and weight. Our patented oversized barrel nut design provides strength and rigidity and works as a heat sink.

Under rigorous testing the P-415 / P-416 has survived the harshest of environments. The P-415 / P-416 incorporates a gas-trap system. The rugged billet look bolt carrier is the heart of the P-415 / P-416. No tools are required to disassemble the P-415 / P-416, a simple cartridge is all that needed. Simply turn the gas-plug 90° to remove and clean the gas-piston and re-assemble. Remove the bolt carrier assembly, wipe down, put light oil on the carrier, and re-assemble. Our gas piston design also eliminates the chance of losing your optics zero, since we don't have to remove the hand guard for maintenance of the gas piston. The P-415 / P-416 recoil is reduced, allowing for smoother and more accurate operation. The P-416 system operates at a slower cycle rate of fire in full-auto which makes the weapon more reliable, controllable, and accurate. The best part of our gas piston system it eliminates HEAT, and is very RELIABLE.

    Bolt & Carrier:
    - Teflon Nickel Plated 8620 Integral Keyed Steel Bolt Carrier (billet machined), heat treated / plated per Mil Spec.

I had a chance over the past week to look over and photograph the POF-USA P-415-16-P11SX-6.8 SPC MID-LENGTH rifle. My first impression of the rifle was that it was a tough and aggressive looking beast. I did not have a chance to fire the rifle so my review is of the overall characteristics of the components.

While running some dry-fire drills I came to envy the trigger pull and reset of the Timney trigger, which was very smooth. The fire selector switch was also smooth and was not stiff while changing from safe to fire. The oversized trigger guard is machined with the lower receiver and is permanently attached. Though the ERGO pistol grip that is standard with the rifle is adequate and comfortable, the user will be limited to what options they have when attaching a new pistol grip due to the permanent trigger guard. The lower receiver includes an ambi-bolt release on the right side which was easily operated.

I really liked the oversized and angled magazine well, which assisted in magazine reloads. The rifle included one 25 round 6.8mm steel magazine.

The Predator P-11SX handguard provides ample room to add accessories of your choice. The handguard has a cut-out on the sides which allows for a comfortable grip without having the rails treat your hands like a “cheese grater”. The rails are covered with Ergo ladder rail covers. The handguard has a front sling mount which can be removed from the standard left side (right handed shooters) to the optional right side (left handed shooters).

While reviewing and photographing the rifle I attached a BOBRO Standard Vertical Grip, a BOBRO Bi-Pod, an Eotech 512, and front and rear YHM Q.D.S. System BUIS. A review of the front and rear YHM Q.D.S. System BUIS will be coming soon. These parts are not standard accessories with the rifle and were added for aesthetic purposes.
