The greatest improvement to the AR-15, the X-15 SCU (Side Charging Upper). The billet machined X-15 SCU is a revolutionary leap forward in non-reciprocating side charging design that improves where others have left off. A true drop in system that allows the use of a Mil standard bolt without machine modification. The only change you make is install a special Cam pin into your bolt which is included with the upper. Designed to work with.223, 300 black and 9mm the versatile upper works for all popular calibers and all standard and non-standard AR lowers. Machined and profiled to work with all M4 pattern M4 upper forend rails that are designed for use on the mil spec uppers.

The X-15 SCU unlike other side charging uppers that place the charging handle in line with the bolt, instead its operation is elevated to work with the modified cam pin. The new location improves accessibility when using a delta ring or an increased diameter forend rail. We chose a non-folding charging handle as we found accessibility was compromised when using a Delta ring, or oversized rail and in general was hard to access during rapid deployment or while using gloves. The bottom line, fixed charging handles work better and are easier to operate in a moment’s notice. The elevated charging handle also allows proper operation of your bolt hold open when manually operating, and is profiled to use modern remote bolt hold open without interference. The left hand port is covered preventing gas from suppressor use and shrapnel from entering the shooters face when in operation (trust us it's a must have). The rear of the upper is covered with a spring loaded flip up door that lifts to remove and replace your bolt, the bolt drops in and doesn't require special operation to put your charging handle in. The charging handle when in operation also does not hit the stock of the shooters firearm, allowing the user to install an elevated cheek piece for better cheek weld that can be used in the collapsed or extended position. In addition we machined M4 feed ramps into the upper for enhanced and reliable feeding.

The right hand side of the receiver has a special feature where you can mount a small picatinny rail for a small site that is concentric with the bolt and allows the shooter to operate the gun from a lowered position, decreasing the shooters exposure up to 50%. We are looking to eventually build a small onboard computer that mounts in this location, to calculate rate of fire, rounds shot, bolt performance and do determine if you are firearm is failing from debris or light or excessive gassing (in development, estimated release early 2017).

I have been looking for one for the AR-10 platform built like this one to build a hunting rifle. But might just build a SPR using this upper and still hunt with it here. The deer here are not that big and longest shot is about 200 yards. I think some premium .223 ammo should do the trick and I still have good groups at those ranges.

Figure fork out the money for a match grade 24" SS barrel, 2 Stage trigger, quality glass, adjustable gas block and shut the gas off should be able to get some decent groups out of it.. it will be way more accurate than I could ever hope to shoot.
