Anybody waiting for Hunting this year?

For a lot of us, hunting season is almost on us. Anybody planning on doing anything? I find out if they are operating on my neck vertebrae so needing anything bigger than a .22 to kill is probably off the table. Maybe some squirrel and rabbit will be about it for me. Made reservations last FEB or thereabouts to hunt cape buffalo NEXT September. Will probably shoot some dove, pheasant and quail next spring. Except for the Africa trip, which will be my first and last, all of my small game will be around here. I can't be sure about my neck so deer and wild boar will be a no go I guess.

    What's your plans and where?

Gun season started for me Aug 15.

I’ve been hunting. About to drop a doe (Sept 15 for antlerless) for some tenderloins and ground meat but I’ve got a couple large boys I’m after also that keep showing on camera in the wee hours of the night

Actually they are having a conversation about how they are going to jump Former as he walks by and steal his rifle... Hehehehee...

But in other forest news: I snuck up on a 14 point buck a few weeks ago, he better get his shit together or the guy that hunts my place is going to blow his brains out come November 5th...

Yeah, got taken out by a grey squirel and a groundhog once. Dirty bastards got away with a nice rifle, some of my cold weather gear, and a couple of Slim Jims. Jumped me from the back, sorry cowards. If I ever catch them they are BBQ

I almost took a doe Sunday to make some ground meat and sausage out of but then three fawns tumbled out of the brush. If they had waited another ten seconds they would’ve lost mom and never survived the coyotes after losing her

    Game cam got them

We get that problem around here during doe season. Starts early when fawns are vulnerable, and coyote's are as thick as peanut butter, especially in South Central KY. One of the main reasons I don't hunt during early doe season.

I joined a new deer lease in north Louisiana this season. This’ll end a 5 year hiatus from hunting for me, most amped I’ve been for hunting season in a decade. Hopefully I’ll break in my Aero M5 308.
