Thanks! There's a 70 Series Government model at Mars, and the rail gun will join it hopefully soon for a matching build. The Combat Commander was my Father's, and his first automatic pistol purchase in 1970.

My first gun. My dad bought it for me for Christmas when I was 18. Not sure how many thousands of rounds it has through it, but other than the slide release breaking and some new Trijicon sights I put on it 5 years ago, it's still all original. Kind of impressive. I guess I should probably change out some springs "soon."

NICE! My first hand gun my father bought me was a Springfield 1911 at 17 after I got back from Ft. Benning. Sadly I sold it back in 05 for... a Glock. I got into Glocks for a while and Sigs. I came back years ago to the 1911 and I still love them and carry them. For me it is the best damn fighting handgun with a Glock pulling a close 2nd, but a 1911 will always be my go to. Yeah I have 8+1 rounds, but I can put those rounds on target under duress every time.

Thanks Again, I like the flat black /od combo also

Another note full size 9mm 1911 is fun to shoot, and this one seems to shoot well for what it is .

So I've been wanting to do a few light mods to my SS Officer Model Colt. One of my favorites, but hated the sights, and the grip safety didn't function properly. I also wanted to keep the lines of the pistol compact and squared off, so I opted to purchase the Wilson Concealment grip safety, but went with their Spec Ops hammer thinking that would help keep it "boxy" looking. Decided I wanted a 10-8 rear sight, and a dovetailed night sight of whatever recommendation. I found a fantastic picture of a blended GS linked to Benchmark Precision's website, and immediately contacted Rob to see if he was available for some "simple" work. Whatever ends up being truly simple?

While looking at the work on his site, I contemplated 90* BHP cuts, but was a no-go due to the amount of material. Rob offered the beveled lower slide and I asked about French Borders. Rob accepted my work request, and off it went.

Shortly after I received an email about the ledge that would be left from the Colt sight, and an option to clean it up, but flattening the entire top of the slide, and I agreed, but asked for serrations as well.

The following is what Rob sent back to me, and I'm floored, absolutely beautiful work. The man is DAMN good at what he does. I can't even go into how I feel about this pistol right now except to say I'm glad I decided to send it to him. If I had to do one thing, I'd most likely have trued and high cut the front strap until I decide on treatment, texture and magwell or not. Some quick shots, just got it 2 hours ago.
