Are they spring loaded like the polymer sights? Can't tell but don't think so ...

I don't see anywhere on the spec sheet that they are spring loaded. It does not appear so. From the Magpul site:

The MBUS® Pro) is a Melonite-finished all-steel back up sighting solution that delivers maximum functionality and strength with minimum bulk at a price that's even smaller than its size. The dual aperture, windage adjustable rear and no-tool, elevation adjustable front excel in all 1913 Picatinny rail mounting applications, including rail-height gas blocks.

Positive detents keep the MBUS PRO front and rear at standard AR sight height when deployed, and so low when they are stowed that you'll never notice them until they're needed. Narrow width front is compatible with most IR aiming laser and light installations for the professional user.

    • All steel construction
    • Selectable large and small same-plane apertures
    • Positive detents in both the up and down positions
    • .375" height above rail at mid-point when stowed
    • Standard AR sight height when deployed
    • Windage adjustable with low-profile knob

    MSRP $104.95

    Magpul MBUS Pro Front Sight

    • All steel construction
    • Elevation adjustment knob – no tools required
    • Positive detents in both the up and down positions
    • .432" height above rail at tallest point when stowed
    • Standard AR sight height when deployed
    • Stowed footprint covers less than 1 5/8" of rail

    MSRP 84.95

Can't wait to try these out myself!

As cool as these are, I'd almost rather stick with the polymer ones I have now. They work well and can take the heat from my LWRC's piston system up front. Granted, I have yet to run into any SERIOUS shooting matches where I'm going to need suppressive fire...

Eh, who am I kidding, I'm gonna own a set.

I found some and simply adore them. They are NOT spring loaded beyond the deployed/stowed detents & the same for the "flip" aperture on the receiver sight.

I have matched them up with dissimiliar brand fronts & rears, and they seem to coincide with the "F" standards of height pretty well. (I haven't performed any nit-picky measurements to provide any "exactness to this statement)

One thing that I found initially disconcerting was that the receiver sight has the same size holes on both the selectable and fixed portion of the sight. I figured out that this is so that the user can decide which direction they want to mount the sight, and then adjust the hole size in the "fore" position to accommodate for a distance selection.
I also wish that the muzzle end sight had a more "clicky" detent than it does. It has sufficient travel, but, the detent is not as "swell ! " as the rest of the package.
