Wishes for a UBR Minimalist Stock
I would like to see Magpul make a version of the UBR that looks similar to MFT's Minimalist stock.

I love my MFT BMS. Contrary to much I've read it's perfectly snug. Not too loose or tight but just right. And it's 4 oz lighter than my CTR with the fat buttpad.
I'd love to see a Magpul version, also.

I wonder what removing that much material did to the stock's rigidity and integrity.
I've got a UBR too that I am thinking about dumping for a lighter stock (on my carbine). Think I'll save the UBR though for a SPRish build.

DT,
If you don't want that weight on your CTR, just do what I do and take it off. Except for a full auto, or burst mode gun, I don't see the use for it anyway. By that I mean, that the recoil of a 5.56 is pretty minimal, I'd bet you wouldn't notice it after a while. Just a thought,

I don't get the weight complaining. So a CTR is near .8 pounds and the UBR a little bit north of an additional half a pound........(.7)......

Tact,
For me, it's not complaining, it's this. I'm trying to build as light weight rifle as I can, but I have to make some sacrifices here and there. Starting with a 1lb 3oz. barrel and a light weight MI SSK (their version of KeyMod) hand guard. I went with the 15" instead of the 12" for various reasons. I also like the MagPul MOE + with the rubberized grip over a standard grip which is lighter. An Epsilon Muzzle Brake adds a few ounces to offset some of the savings on the barrel. Finally an Aimpoint T1 and mount. So I'm taking a little "useless" weight off, where I can, one area being the "recoil" pad. Add a set of polymer MBUS sights and a Noveske hand guard cover/w hand stop and you've added maybe 4oz. (think of it in pounds) and it doesn't take a lot to start adding the weight back into the rifle.
It's not a matter of complaining, it's a methodical way to shed a couple of ounces, which could easily add up to a pound or more, wherever I can. So, you're looking at .8lbs or with the UBR 1.3 lbs. I'm going the other way and removing a few ounces from the CTR.
