Aero Precision is launching some 308 components to go with their upcoming 308 receiver sets. One of these items is their new 16" Stainless Barrel, featuring mid-length gas. These have DPMS Barrel extensions and feature 1:10 twists. Currently, they are also offering introductory pricing on these. Other lengths will be available in the near future. why did aero decide to make a 16" first before 18" or 20"? arent longer lengths for .308 more desirable?

That's a good question, you certainly get more velocity out of a 18 and 20". Depending on which blanks they used, perhaps it was just to get more barrels per blank. I'll have to ask.

well i just hope they get 18"+ barrels out soon! they said over at arfcom that theyre doing 308 [upper] receivers. cant wait!!

They are also doing the M5E1, which is the 308 version of their enhanced upper.
