My daily driver: 2012 535i GT xDrive. I really wish i'd gone for the 550. Even with the twin-scroll turbo, the turbo lag sucks. I feel like i'm flying a 727 when i drive it. It'll get up and move, but you need to add power before you need it lol. Not the greatest photo, as i was trying to crop out the neighbor's non-Bavarian cars.

It's not the car that I can't afford. It's all the maintenance and all the constant trips to shop

Those imported spare parts add up....

This reminds of voodooman's favorite "reviews" from people who have never touched the product.

Current E70 had for 5 years. First 4 years, BMW paid for all the maintenance. I usually get 1 oil change a year at $85 for Full synthetic. It just needed new brakes, so with $240 worth of parts, I did them myself.

Parents have an 8 year old E70, same deal for the last 4 years. Last 4, all they've needed are yearly oil changes, Cabin Filters at $25 (5 bolts and you swap it out yourself) 2 headlight bulbs at $8 a piece, and 4 Brakes/Rotors at $350.

Yearly oil changes? How many miles is that between changes? Serious Question...

I typically go a little over a year between mine and I pay ~$90 for mine. But that pretty much equals out to the same as a "regular" oil change for a "regular" car.

12-15K. The computer analyzes your use and lets you know when it's time. We don't put that kind of mileage on ours, so we just get a yearly reminder from the dealership.

Thanks. I'm surprised they go that long between. I run Mobil 1 full synthetic but I still change my oil every 5-6k. I drive about 15k miles a year on my truck. Wife is just a tad more...

We run Full Synethic Mobil 1 on our commuter car, a 2009 Pontiac G6. Usually go by the computer in that car as well, we usually get 6-8 months between oil changes on that one. Have been running it that way the last 5 years and haven't had any issues.

    The Bavarian Motor Works Thread

Heh. While you guys are talking about your once a year oil changes I'm sitting over here laughing about how last year the longest I went between oil changes was 6 weeks and shortest was 10 days. There's a reason I've been prevented from getting my FFL thus far.
