The bounty just keeps on coming. Sionics blem ambi lower w/o trigger, guard, buffer and spring. I'll would not use the stock trigger and spring anyway. I can't see what the blem is. Maybe overly deep engraving on magwell? Looks great to me. Especially at only $30 more than my usual stripped Mega Gator.

I've read nothing but good about Sionics. I'd like to try one of their 11.5" barrels that is tuned for suppressor use.

Are you going to SBR this lower and use it with the upper you got not long ago?

DW, Yeah, I wish I had jumped on that dedicated can barrel. Maybe when they do another run. Hopefully mine will run well suppressed with 5.56 mil-spec. Into month nine on Recce 5 wait.

I'm done SBRing unless they loosen the regs. Have 3 in my trust from pre new rules. Matching brands is nice but no biggee for me. So the Sionics upper will be humping a Gator (Mega).

I haven't seen any of the Mega produced sets in person yet. The engraving looks a lot more pronounced than on my Gen 3. I've got a really early Gen 3 set and it was perfect when i purchased it, albeit as a complete rifle.

Mine was far from perfect, had machining lines all over it. It was one of the ones they sent out before they started selling them to the public. It was the last Noveske item I purchased. The new Mega ones I've seen are really nice, may get a lower sometime.

I'm not sure what exactly Colt did, but that entire side of the mag well has those marks. My best guess is there was in imperfection in the forging that they were trying to clean up to keep that batch of lowers useable. I've seen photos of other Colt 6933s with the same machining marks, always on the left mag well. They don't bother me in the least, but they do leave me wondering WTF exactly Colt was thinking. [BD]

Took the gun out for a confidence test and about 125 rounds in, the front sight started wiggling back and forth, causing friction against the slide and resulting in failures to go into battery. Sent Nighthawk an email about the problem.

Initial impression of the compensated barrel was very favorable and strings of fast fire were very easy to achieve. Hopefully they can give me a permanent solution to the problem because I would really like to start carrying this.

As it stands now, the pistol is completely deadlined.

Ever have any issues with front sights attached directly to the barrel?

I've never heard of the issue before but I haven't had much experience with a setup like this, where the front sight it dovetailed so close to the barrel ports. Most of my other experiences with ported barrels have been with sights that are attached to the frame, and the compensator is a separate part.

Still waiting to hear from Nighthawk but I'm starting to think about asking them to put in a new front sight and then staking it or welding it in place.

Funny you post that I was just looking at their conversion yesterday. Saw a pretty inexpensive LED conversion while at Home Depot and wanted to compare the specs. I think the one I saw at home depot said 140 lumens but I don't think it'd actually get that. Malkoff says 270.

Ha..ha.. Reminds me of a story. A friend of mine a Navy Master Chief (now retired), hated grocery shopping at the San Diego Naval Base. The NCO club was just across the road, and she drug him screaming and bitching, into the Commissary. When they got to the dairy section, he yelled at the top of his voice: "Milk? Milk? There's no beer in the refridgerator and you wan't MONEY FOR MILK FOR THE KIDS, YOU SELFISH BITCH! He then proceeded to the Club and drank beer, until he realized his wife left him there on the base with no ride home.

Although he is still married, his wife no longer asks him to go to the exchange.

The moral here, Pyzik, is there is possibly something you can extract from this for future use, when you're wife guilt's you out of spending the household money on gun parts. Good luck.

I didn't know their were two versions but I'm assuming it's version I. I bought it refurbished from Canon. I've only taken a few photos with it but I can already tell a distinct difference. Now I just need a new body and a better lighting setup and I'll be set!

Haha Joelski, learn how to use a camera and you'll love it! Shooting a camera is a hell of a lot cheaper than shooting a gun that's for sure...

Damn close guess Jerry! This model is marked A.S.E with a sale around 1942. May have proceeded the introduction of the silver pigeon line by a few years. I have some research done by the previous owner but I still need to contact Beretta and see what info they can give me.

*edit* The sleuths at shotgun world forums are helping me with finding more identifying information so at this point, I may not even be correct on the model.

Here's what I know so far:

- 12 gauge O/U Beretta Model AS 12E (pre-model 90 I think. Some think the forge stamp puts the gun at a manufacture of 1959 but I'm still waiting on confirmation of that fact)
- 28" barrels with 2 3/4" chambers
- Kersten style (sliding cross bolt) action lockup

- Top barrel is choked to 0.680" diameter
- Bottom barrel is choked to 0.700" diameter.
- Full over Modified or maybe Extra Full over Improved Modified? (Finding out that the barrels have different chokes makes the double trigger option make a lot more sense)

- barrels are made of chrome-molybdenum steel

This is common for .308 BCG's. Did you push the bolt in past the cam pin hole then try to pull it out far enough to push the cam pin back? If so, I'd almost bet that's what happened. Most .308 bolts warn of this with the instruction/spec sheet. You have to be very careful when pushing the bolt back in, not to do this.

You absolutely chose wisely. I did a little rough math the other day, and between my AR builds, builds for friends, etc - I've spent over $4,000 (like way over) on triggers since 2012. The majority have been Geissele, but have also used Wilson Combat, Elftmann, CMC, American Gold, etc. What I've learned from all of this is that there is no better value out there than the Geissele G2S trigger.

I've got a Gemtech MIST getting approved later in the year. Might go the with the standard X22

I have a base model takedown and curious if this backpacker will be more portable for me. Mostly tinkering with this one.

I was considering the Mist. But I'm wanting a Kidd supergrade more with the standard x22.

Edit: just caught word that Ruger will be making an integrally suppressed 10/22 takedown in near future.

FWIW, the majority of your USPS Priority mail goes through FedEx, with a small percentage that goes to UPS. Personally, of the three, USPS tends to have the best speed to cost ratio of the three for that sized package.

I'm pretty sure UPS uses bears on tricycles to move their packages.

Glaciers are faster than UPS ground. Yes, USPS subs cross country stuff to FedEx, but getting to to and from the FedEx hub is where the damage seems to occur. I've shipped a lot of stuff and the biggest thing I've learned is that the safest way to ship with any carrier is disassembled and packed tight into the smallest boxes possible.

UPS is the best of the sack garglers around here. FedEx is OK but often they create issues for no reason. Like when they decided a few barrels in a old rifle box required a FFL to receive it. USPS is just USPS. 50/50 chance the disgruntled carrier will throw it in a dumpster or deliver it.

I wasn't ignoring you, I wanted to actually use the tripod. I used it with a Hog Saddle this weekend and it worked flawlessly. Pretty much an equal to my Swarovski tripod that cost double what the NF did. Briefly used the monopod also with equally positive results. As for the walking stick options they seem serviceable in a pinch but I don't expect to stop using my LEKI micro's anytime soon.

Overall pleased with the tripod. Really the only downside is that it uses Arca style plates and not the Manfrotto QD style.

No worries, thanks for the feedback. While manfrotto plates are popular in the firearms industry, arca swiss is considered the industry standard for photo/video, and has much wider acceptance worldwide. RRS has a super nice set of 1913/m-lok/keymod arca swiss mounts. Also some arca swiss adapters for various bolt gun chassis.

I may have to snag one of the NF tripods, as I hate to risk my Gitzo/RRS setup for use in the field. I might still drop my RRS head on the NF legs, but want to see how the NF ballhead compares (I know it won't be as nice, but it might be sturdy enough).

RRS makes amazing gear. Expensive, but super tough, built for a lifetime of use. I've had some of their ballheads and other parts for my cameras for many years with no complaints. Their new hog-saddle style rest is also super nice. I wouldn't mind a set of their legs, but I don't shoot with a tripod enough to justify it.

That REALLY sucks!! That was why it was hard to do business with Randy Lee at APEX. They required all firearms be sent FED EX overnight due to the number of thefts they were experiencing. You also pay FED EX overnight for the return, so there's ridiculous upfront costs just to get and receive your firearm, before they even touch your gun. All because some FED EX employees have sticky fingers!

No I hear you. I've been off the "gun grid" this week due to some mandatory "here's how to be a civilian" training, so haven't seen any of the social media info on these. Still, it seems like these are the "last batch"...until the the next year when they release more.

You ought to do a review of that trigger. I've wanted to try one of those.
