I got 5 boxes of the Lehigh Defense Max Expanding ammo at a local shop here. The boxes were marked and stuck in a pile with other ammo of the same brand. $17 a box.

I think the angled flat area allows the dust cover to close while the rod is inserted, in case you are installing the cover and want to test function.

The end of the rod is tapered so that it basically has a universal fit for barrel extensions that fit the AR15 upper receiver.

Looking forward to hearing how you like this rod. I have both of the Geissele rods, which I find extremely useful, but I feel like MI may have added a couple of improvements.

You nailed it. Uppers are really hard to find, I still have 2 Forged Uppers that I've never used, and all I see are people looking to buy uppers since Lowers were still somewhat available after they shut down the line.

Knight's and LMT fit perfectly. I ran a MATEN lower with my SR-25 upper when I lived in CA, and you wouldn't notice the difference...other than the nice ambi bolt release on the MATEN. Larue will also fit fine.

Obviously, most folks can't afford to shoot thousands of rounds of heavy self defense rounds, what you're doing is a smart work around for that.

Factory ammo. .30 x 7k = $2,100 roughly
My reloads .15 cents x 7k = half that , and honestly buy in better, bigger bulk then I did you could make it cheaper.

So in that quick math you could have a good reloading start with that extra $1k

If you have the time for it, reloading can be worthwhile. It really makes sense if you're doing match ammo, as opposed to bulk, though. I was loading nosler 77s for about 32 cents a round, all in. 55gr range fodder was about 10 cents less. Between all the case prep and actual loading, though, it takes a lot of time. And this was with a dillon 650 and all the support equipment to streamline the process as much as possible. I got to the point where the time sink wasn't worth it; for what little free time I have in my life, I'd rather go to the range and shoot factory ammo, even if it costs more per round.

Like I said, though, if you have the time to do it, you can definitely save money and have better ammo. Some people simply like the process of reloading, too. There's nothing wrong with that. And reloading pistol ammo is quite a bit easier since you don't have all the case prep for bottle neck cartridges.

Pretty excited about this one. I bought one of the new Large Timberwolf frame from LoneWolf as soon as they finally dropped. My sweet wife bought me the slide assembly for Christmas. I told her that we should at least check to see that it fits well prior to wrapping and placing under the tree. [emoji6]

This is a badass 10mm - can't wait to shoot it! Trijicon HD night sights incoming, as well as 5 15 round mags.

FT - I'm in the same boat - that's why I like the Timberwolf frames, they fit my paws much better than factory Glock frames. That being said - it's still a big handful.

I'm going back to 1911's and a M&P with a 1911 type thumb safety. Plus the Glock 19 and 23. The 19 fits in a holster for my CRYE vest, in a horizontal position. I choose the G19 because in a real life emergency, and broken gun, I could probably find Glock parts over anything else. The 1911 will be carried on my side, but the Glock can be fixed with very minor tools. Not trying to sound sick, but I could probably pick up a glock off of a dead man, much easier than any other firearm. 1911's require pretty much gunsmithing.

Decided to get serious this coming spring about a Kreiger barrel that I've had for several years now. Creedmoor Sports, Inc. had a good sale going over the Thanksgiving holiday, so I bought some heavy .223 rounds. They also had a decent price on 308, so some of that, too. Because I wanted to try it on one of my rimfires and it was half the price. When I say knockoff I'm not implying it was marketed or labeled Arisaka. It wasn't.

It's larger than the Arisaka but I think it will work well for this CMMG dedicated. I had a BCM KAG handstop on it but after I purchased a couple Arisaka fingerstops I preferred the method. Got a box of Magpul AFG, BCM VFG... on and on.. ya know how it is. ;)

A couple of comments from me.

I have had the pleasure of dealing with Slippers a few times and never ever had a single issue nor problem. He's earned my business and whether he knows it or not I've sent him a bunch of customers over time.

Secondly, just in general I hate Chinese made crap. I spent money on Chineseum junk before that didn't last one range outing. I learned my lesson.

Thirdly, I try not to swear, but I HATE F*CKING THIEVES. That means people who steal stuff that other people worked hard for and paid their money for or if they copy a design from someone else, even if it means making some minor alteration, it's still the same thing as throwing a rock through someone's window and stealing. This is one of my hot button issues so I am trying to not rant here too much.

I was at the Canton Fair in China not long ago and I walked past a booth of people selling knives. Two of my friends are famous knife designers and manufacturers and low and behold I walked in and saw knock off versions sitting on the shelf there. There's a difference between not knowing when you buy something and posting a comparison photo of the real one and the copy together, though.

I've seen vets that violate trigger discipline and cover people when they swing their rifle around. I've seen people who are not remotely connected with public safety, never served, and didn't grow up with guns in their hands who were better shots. and more meticulously disciplined to train and hone skills that most of us. Among both groups there exists sub groups that are tuned in to brands and the known/perceived higher performance of better quality, higher priced parts and firearms. I've also seen people who put UTG optic mounts on KAC rifles (For a law enforcement organization!).

The conclusion that I've drawn is that this affliction we largely share is not prevalent, nor even common among firearms enthusiasts. YMMV.

Aaaand just like that, ammo envy has overtaken me.

I usually use magtech 123gr for plinking and keep my mags loaded with Barnes 110gr Vor-tx rounds for defense.

Actually, my 300 is still unfired. I just finished it last weekend.

I've had fairly good luck with Winchester in the past in other platforms, so ...

I selected the Winchester 200 after looking at 220 and 190 subs; seemed like a good compromise and the same site had them. Funny stuff ... at checkout, their site said, "You can add 7 more pounds before the shipping goes up." [BD] So I threw in four boxes of the Winchester.

I know the 300 is supposed to be in its' element subsonic, but I don't plan on doing subs that much. The only other sub-sonic ammo I have used is the S&B rounds in the Sig 12" 308. Wanted to try something different this time.

I bought the Fiocchi 125 for thumpers, and the S&B 124 for plinking and sight-in. The Fiocchi has some good YouTube reviews showing accuracy and gelatin expansion in multiple barrel lengths. That's why I picked them. The S&B also had reasonable accuracy and at a good price.

We're doing a Spring Shoot again this year at GriffonSec's place, and I hope to get some good video. "Stay tuned, film at eleven." [:D]

Then the Doh moment - a vague memory of getting a tube delivered last week just as I was going out so threw it inthe pile unopened. I had to sell my Land Cruiser to a friend 3 months earlier than planned (boring story involving a crying sister) and had 3 days to find a replacement so was in panic mode.

Anyways, all is well now. Just unveiled this beauty a few minutes ago. Satin 16” UM w/adj. gas block.

That's the plan. I bought a Dead Air flash hider for my bolt action rifle so I don't have to swap from direct thread to QD on my Omega 300. However, the threading works fine with the direct thread mount and my cheap-o thread protector (A2 Birdcage), it will not work with any other ½"-28 muzzle device I own. I need to talk to the guy who threaded it. So that one may go on it since it actually threads on.
