I like those Tac ops.
Gear head- another option and one I would look at if your not wanting to drop a grand plus. I’ve had a few Ruger 1911’s and with a few upgrades there a great buy. These talo night watchmen have been a want. Can be found for 700’ish.
Not mine, just stole the pic

Ugh. Stop with the pictures. The Sig competes directly with my Specialist as a rail-and-well gun (I think I'll keep the DW, heh heh) and the Ruger is basically in the same space as my Loaded Springer (smooth frontstrap, night sights, traditional slide). I might prefer that Ruger's finish more than the notoriously soft Parkerizing on the Loaded.
So I don't need either cause I've got those bases covered......but I still want both of them. So please, stop it :)
As an aside, more and more I move towards "no front serrations" on 1911s. The Springfield completely shredded a couple of unlined holsters and I don't use the serrations for press-checks on 1911's very often (ever???).

Dang it.
A Ruger with ball mill end cuts and and front strap checkering? That magwell doesn't look factory and those grip panels sure aren't. Not really seeing a manufacturer's stamp on the slide. I see a few other bits and pieces have changed too
Someone had some work done - it's barely a Ruger now :)Last edited by RiverRat; 5 April 2019 at 15:15.

Was looking at this thread this week thinking about picking up a 1911 for myself (traditionally a Glock guy). Stumbled upon a used SA TRP for $1,100 at one of the local shops and decided to bring it home. This is my first 1911 and .45
A little wear on the expected locations. Prior owner obviously shot it.
The only thing I don't care for is the sights, but I got over that once I learned that I can get a rear U-notch / front fiber optic set of sights from Harrison Custom ( https://shop.harrisoncustom.com/hd-0...ice-rear-sight )

Need some help from the masses please!
I have not. Sadly. Haha.
*dead thread revival for sure*
I have the money now. Some things happened, not the way I planned, or wanted, things came up, etc etc. Life happens. Adulting sucks. Lol.
So. Been doing a LOT of research. Searching. Comparing. More looking. More research.
A shop a couple hours away from me, actually had a Dan Wesson Specialist the other month when I was there. I wanted to handle it and check it over, but, nobody would assist me. Got on DW’s website and started perusing. Why does it bother me so much that they only offer a 5yr warranty on their guns, where all these other companies offer lifetime.
I still want a .45. I still want railed. These two, I believe are my top choices. In this order.
The bad news....the S&W has been completely discontinued. So. I’ll have to find an an NOS gun somewhere that hasn’t been plucked yet by anyone, and I have managed to find a few. So. Thats a plus. The SA...I just don’t really want a gun that everybody else has. Haha. I know, weird. So. Does anybody know of or have anything to say negative about the TA E-series. With those scallops, I think it’s one of the most beautiful 1911’s I’ve ever seen. I know I didn’t list a TRP. I would have no problem spending the extra dough, I just don’t like the rear target sight on it instead of a carry-type sight. Why did they do that anyway?!
I know quite a few people have said Sigs as a go-to as well. I’m looking at the Tac Ops currently on their website, but only a 10mm. No .45? Uhh, what!? BUT. I DO like the fact that it comes with 4 mags from factory. That’s pretty badass!
I’d like to be able to order one or buy one in person this weekend if I can find the right one.
Opinions?

Well. I finally did it!! Made up my mind. Picked one. Ordered it. Picked it up today. I am completely enamored with it and beside myself. This thing is so beautiful. And feels so good. NOW I know and see the difference between a low end, and a high end 1911. I’ll never be the same after this. Lol.

Purdy pistola, gearhead. So, of the myriad choices available, what drew you to this one?
