Because my first name is Carlos and during a particular fundraising Sniper Match some SF-types started calling me "The Jackal" so I started using it.
FWIW, many moons ago the mods at barfcom rejected my registration because of my screen name. They said it was too "controversial".

I'm restoring a '92 Dodge Ramcharger, to be our (me & my 3 sons') Cub Scout War Wagon around our ranch! That, and I've been known to watch a John Wayne film or twelve before. Clint Eastwood, too.- It is no dishonor to be in a minority in the cause of liberty and virtue. - Sam Adams, Founding Father - 1722-1803

“Quib” was the nickname given to me shortly after I arrived in Germany in the spring of 1985.
Back in the barracks, I was sorting through my freshly issued TA50 and put my helmet and sunglasses on. One of the guys in my Platoon piped up stating I looked like “Quibbley”, a cartoon character from the “Stars and Stripes” Newspaper.
To this day, friends I’m still in touch with from my service days call me by the name “Quib”.
LOL…..Can you see the resemblance?
And no, I’m not pissing on that vehicle.

Nothing exciting, I was named 'Konrad' by my mother after her grandfather, a Lutheran minister.

My last Army unit was with the 502nd Inf. "Five Oh Deuce".
Some in my unit used "Oh Deuce" as a rally call.

NRA life member for over 30 years (Endowment for last 5 or so).
I owe the ddomega to Stickman.
In reference to the Daniel Defense Omega Rail.
I was looking to add a rail to my m4. Saw his review on the forum.
Bought it.

I always go by my real name. I've never understood how anonymity on the Internet was any different from anonymity anywhere else. I'm a school teacher. Every now and then I receive an anonymous note. For all the obvious reasons it always goes into the trash can immediately, unread. I know it's an unpopular position in the cyber-world, but I want to approach it the same way I do with old styles of communication. If I send you a letter, or post a note on a bulletin board, or phone you, or put up public notice anywhere in print, I sign it. For me the same goes for the Internet.

I am a retired soldier, retired in 1974 so obviously I am old, 75 to be exact and slowly fading away but between my M-1 Garand, my 2 1911s and my 2 ARs I am making a lot of noise and having a lot of fun doing it.

Well fireman in the worst city this side of Detroit.
Favorite Engine Co. was 13 when I was riding nozzle. I'm a Lieutenant now and responsibility is not as fun as I thought it would be.
Figured my work nickname told a little too much about me.
