My EDC/duty knife is a Benchmade 551S Griptilian:
But I've now got my eye on an Emerson Super Roadhouse (4.2") or Roadhouse (3.8") SF Prestige Tactical folder:

My EDC is a Gerber Bear Grylls. Stays sharp and when I do have to take a stone to it, it takes an edge quickly. My only complaint is the color scheme.

Much like Stick in the OP, I am no knife expert, I just like what feels good in my hand and what stays sharp and easy to open.
From right to left:
For the first few years of my career, I carried a Gerber Applegate folder. It was a gift, and thus I carried it.
I then got the S&W Knife as I got sucked into the "cool" looks. It sucked.
I then went through a Benchmade phase with the auto's. The Mel Pardue was too small, and after I got the other, I decided Benchmade auto's were too nice to carry on duty.
Since the Benchmades were pricey, I went with the Gerber Auto. The Gerber was too bulky in my opinion.
Then I got a SOG Flash II as a gift, but didn't like the blade.
The last knife is a SOG Trident Tanto. Loved it, and carried it, until some asshat at work stole it after I dropped it. Liked it so much, I got the same knife again.

Here's my first serious EDC that I use in rotation: ZT0350. Great knife for the money. Solid and sturdy lock up.
And I'd also picked this up recently to try out as an EDC fixed blade: Brous Blade Silent Soldier. It's a solid knife and I love it.

CRKT M21-14SFG with G10 handles and a Leatherman Skeletool. I made the little leather pouch so the flippers of the CRKT don't dig a hole in my back-pocket and helps with printing...just wide enough so the knife slips free.

Everyday for the last several years I have carried one of my Hinderer XM-18s. I own several of varying generations. I like the Gen 1 series...and yes I use them. Carried an Emerson Gentleman Jim custom for a couple days along with the XM-18s. Stopped because of the hard use I put the Hinerers through, I was unsure if the blade style of the Emerson would hold up as well. Not questioning the design or intergrity of an Emerson...that would be foolish...but I would not use the Emerson liek a prybar and I have opened crates with my Hinderer. No damage.

I am a paramedic, I've carried many different knives (for work) over the years. What I currently carry is a benchmade 915 triage. I love it. Very useful in my line of work. Probably not the best defensive blade, but would work in a pinch. Blade and rescue cutter came razor sharp from the factory. 10/10 in my book.

Over the years I've switched between a couple folders, primarily from my first CRKT M16 to my current Emerson CQC-7. While I like the construction of the Striders and Zero Tolerance so far I haven't had the need for the thickness and weight of those types yet. I know both types have solid construction, though so far for daily duties my Emerson fits the bill nicely. For something even lighter I'm also considering taking a look at their A-100.
